This evening I was pleased to see Michael Owen scoring two dramatic late goals to earn England victory in a friendly against Argentina.
Striker Hernan Crespo, who plays his club football for English champions Chelsea, gave Argentina a 35th minute lead, England's Wayne Rooney levelled four minutes later and Walter Samuel looked to have won it in the 54th minute by putting Argentina 2-1 up.
But Owen, who signalled his arrival on the game's biggest stage with a wonder goal against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup, headed an 87th minute equaliser and followed up by nodding in a stoppage time winner. So thanks to Rooney and Owen, England are once again looking like World Cup contenders, which is good.
UPDATE: I have now put a link in the post title to the Football Associations website, that shows the highlights of the game!
