Two second-half goals from a battling Hull City side saw them claim all three points against a lacklustre Ipswich Town. Close-range finishes from Nick Barmby in the 56th minute and Craig Fagan on 70 finished off Joe Royle's men in bitterly cold conditions at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers started well and good play gave Jason Price a chance to run in on goal. Chances continued to arrive for Hull as the Ipswich defence stood off the City front men and Billy Paynter tried to take advantage but he fired a 25-yard shot over the crossbar. On 56 minutes a Price cross and Ryan France knockdown left Barmby with the chance and he made no mistake as he stroked the ball past Supple to put Hull ahead.
A minute later Hull nearly went further ahead as a pin-point cross from Price gave Paynter a great chance but his header was matched by a good save. The Tigers did extend their lead on 70 minutes as a through ball from Damien Delaney sent Price through and his low ball across the six-yard box was tapped home by Fagan. Well done Hull City!!!!
