Two goals from Jonathon Douglas gave Leeds United the Yorkshire bragging rights over Hull City. The on-loan midfielder popped up in first-half injury-time to ram home a pass from Robbie Blake, then struck again in the 53rd minute after Richard Cresswell had twice hit the bar following a corner. Peter Taylor left ex-Leeds midfielder Nick Barmby on the bench even though the former England international had produced one of his best displays since joining Hull in the midweek 2-0 win over Ipswich.
Hull made all the early pace, outnumbering Leeds in midfield and pushing forward, with Billy Paynter twice going close, the second only kept out by a finger-tip save by Neil Sullivan. Leeds' first effort came after 20 minutes when Blake dragged his shot wide of the post. Craig Fagan and Paynter were giving the Leeds defence plenty of problems and Fagan clipped the bar with a 20-yard shot five minutes from half-time and then brought another superb save out of Sullivan. Barmby got on with eight minutes to go, but by then the game was lost and he only had time to receive abuse from the Leeds fans.

Driving in Hull in the snow!
Went out on another driving lesson in Hull today, which was quite interesting as it was the first time I have driven on snow and ice since 1996!
Both me and my driving instructor think I coped well with the conditions, so we will just have to wait and see what the assesment centre in Newcastle have to say when I go back there for my reassement in a short while!

Hull City 2 - Ipswitch Town 0
Two second-half goals from a battling Hull City side saw them claim all three points against a lacklustre Ipswich Town. Close-range finishes from Nick Barmby in the 56th minute and Craig Fagan on 70 finished off Joe Royle's men in bitterly cold conditions at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers started well and good play gave Jason Price a chance to run in on goal. Chances continued to arrive for Hull as the Ipswich defence stood off the City front men and Billy Paynter tried to take advantage but he fired a 25-yard shot over the crossbar. On 56 minutes a Price cross and Ryan France knockdown left Barmby with the chance and he made no mistake as he stroked the ball past Supple to put Hull ahead.
A minute later Hull nearly went further ahead as a pin-point cross from Price gave Paynter a great chance but his header was matched by a good save. The Tigers did extend their lead on 70 minutes as a through ball from Damien Delaney sent Price through and his low ball across the six-yard box was tapped home by Fagan. Well done Hull City!!!!

Crewe Alexandra 2 - Hull City 2
Billy Paynter unleashed an unstoppable 25-yard effort to ensure Hull City grabbed a share of the spoils in the relegation clash at Crewe. Kevin Ellison went close to giving the visitors the lead in the ninth minute when he stretched to meet Craig Fagan's cross but Darren Moss and Chris McCready managed to scramble the ball off the line.
Fagan levelled for Hull in the 33rd minute when he finished off at the far post after Damien Delaney had knocked back Ellison's sweeping cross. Both sides had chances in the second half but Crewe will rue missing theirs the most. And after Paynter had equalised, Stuart Elliott came close to winning the game for Hull City but was denied by a fine block from Turnbull.

Dr Who: The Christmas Invasion
Despite stiff competition from digital and satellite television channels offering blockbuster films and US sitcoms, it was traditional home-grown favourites such as EastEnders, Doctor Who and The Two Ronnies that the nation tuned in to watch on Christmas Day.
David Tennant's debut as the new Time Lord drew an audience of 9.4 million, putting BBC1's Doctor Who at No 2. A BBC spokesman said: "It was a wonderful climax to the year for Doctor Who."

Scouts Christmas Party Night!
To celebrate the christmas holidays I had a christmas party night with the Explorer Scout Section which was good fun, especially as they organised the whole thing, unfortunately they did not help with the cooking! I suppose us leaders had to do something during the evening and it wasn't even to cold, so much for the cold winter weather! However, I have said this before and I still think we may see snow before the end of the holiday period!

I just tried to look at my kinja digest and unfortunately it is still not working, however before the weekend they did suggest it would be working after the weekend and as it is only Monday I will let them off, as normally they do provide a very good and useful service. I will just have to use my RSS Reader for the moment to consult other blogs!

Brighton 2 - Hull City 1 (Lots of chances, no result)
The match I am sorry to say was quite uninteresting. The home side were awful which gives some indication of how poor City were and, it all started so well. Brighton moved out of the Championship relegation zone with their first win for 10 matches. The Seagulls did it the hard way, coming from behind early on with two stunning first-half strikes from Sebastien Carole and captain Charlie Oatway.
City scored with the first real action of the game. Unfortunately, from where City supporters were positioned behind the opposite goal, separated from the pitch by a running track, and seemingly about three miles from the play it was hard to tell exactly what happened. Anyway, Taylor's caution reared it's ugly head again. One-nil up and playing by far the better football City by accident or managerial design decided to sit back on their lead. This allowed Brighton to take the game to City.
Nick Barmby almost put City back in front with a header destined for the bottom corner but the keeper made a fine save. Inevitably, Brighton scored again. Again it was a disastrous goal to give away. Brighton attacked down their right. City won the ball in the ball in the corner but then Dawson and Elliott conspired to give it away again. Brighton moved the ball inside and City again stood off.
I suppose against Sheffield Wednesday City we were slightly fortunate to take all the points. Against Brighton the reverse was probably true. However, that doesn't disguise the fact that City contributed to their own down fall in this match to a much too great an extent.

Scouts!
Tonights Scouts was the last before Christmas so we organised a party night, I wrapped a lot of parcels for pass the parcel. This year due to the way Christmas has fallen Scouts have finished before cubs, which is a unusual occurence that does not occur very often.
The Explorers spent the evening making Christmas decorations which were impressive by the end of the night, better than I could make anyway! Luckily I wasn't running that activity, at the end we said merry christmas to the Scouts and we shall see them in the New Year. So an enjoyable evening once again

Oil depot explodes in Hertfordshire!
A huge fire has been raging after a series of explosions ripped through an oil storage depot in what is thought to be the largest incident of its kind in peacetime Europe. Miraculously, only two people were seriously injured among 43 casualties, after flames shot hundreds of feet into the sky following the blasts at the Buncefield depot, near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, police said.
John Prescott, the Deputy Prime Minister, from Hull, tonight visited the scene of the blasts, the first of which happened just after 6am at the fuel terminal in Leverstock Green, close to junction 8 of the M1. The force of the incident could be heard up to 100 miles away sparking fears of a terrorist attack or a plane crash. But Hertfordshire Police Chief Constable Frank Whiteley said they were treating the incident as an accident.
The M1 has been closed both ways between junctions 6a and 12 and may remain shut tomorrow morning. Motorists have been told not to go "anywhere near the M1 from the M25 upwards". At Heathrow airport, some flights were forced to delay landing because of smoke, but Luton airport was said to be operating as usual. The Buncefield depot is a major distribution terminal operated by Total and part-owned by Texaco, storing oil and petrol as well as kerosene which supplies airports across the region. The country's fifth largest fuel distribution depot, it is also used by BP, Shell and British Pipeline.

Hull City 1 - Sheffield Wednesday 0
After a tense match with not many real chances Sheffield Wednesday saw their solid work undone when, three minutes from time, Price fired in a corner from 6 yards to score. It was heartbreaking for the Wednesday, who had played with more passion and coherence throughout and they are now left in even more trouble at the foot of the table. There was a rare lifting of the atmosphere among the home crowd in the 55th minute when Tigers captain Nick Barmby stepped up to take a free-kick just outside the area on the right, but it was disappointingly long and missed all of City's danger men.
With barely four minutes left, most people in the ground thought Elliott had scored with a cracking header, but it was ruled offside. There was nothing wrong with Price's 87th-minute matchwinner though and despite a last-ditch effort from Graham Coughlan, who while lying on the floor about six yards out, poked a leg out and shot inches wide, it was Wednesday who went home with the relegation worries. So after this result it looks like Hull City could remain in the Championship next season, hopefully!!

Hull City drawn against Aston Villa!
Hull City will play Aston Villa in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. Hull City, who now enter the competition at the Third Round as do all Championship clubs, will play host to the Premiership club on the 7th January.
The two clubs last met in January 1999, when Villa led the Premiership and City were bottom of the Football League. City have never beaten them in the cup, and have only achieved 5 wins in 21 league meetings, the last of those being in the 1987/88 season.
Now, Aston Villa are 15th in the Premiership and are out of the League Cup having lost 3-0 to League One side Doncaster last week. David O'Leary's side - which includes the likes of Gareth Barry, Milan Baros and Kevin Phillips - will be looking to make a better fist of it in the FA Cup, however Peter Taylor thinks that his Hull City side can maybe win this encounter, or at least play well. We will just have to wait until January at the KC to see!

Ben Burgess out of action for three months!
I am busy at present hence the reason for the late updates, however this evening I have attended the gym! However I also was disappointed to hear that injury-plagued Ben Burgess will be sidelined for three months. He landed awkwardly on his left knee in the game against Southampton a week ago and had to limp off. The extent is now known and he will be out until the end of February.
Peter Taylor is relieved though that it is not a more serious injury, having been without the big centre forward for a whole year when he previously injured the same knee. Elsewhere, Andy Dawson and Keith Andrews return after injuries when City play Cardiff on Saturday.
Unfortunately, Peter Taylor may also have Boaz Myhill available if his red card appeal is won. If not, the goalkeeper will serve a one-match ban after his weekend heroics!
P.S. Will put some more photos on my flickr account soon!

Snow & Ice
Well I am feeling rather jealous at present as most people in my kinja digest have seen snow at some point today, however, living in a warm coastal area I haven't seen any of the white stuff yet this year! Have, just checked the weather forecast for Hornsea and for the time being I do not think I shall see any, will it be December before Europe's fastest eroding coastline, the Holderness Coastline sees the snow?

Hull City 2 - Queens Park Rangers 2
In the first half we were composed, passing the ball well and got a good goal just before half time! Five minutes into the second half Billy Paynter scores his first goal for the club and we are all happy this was going to prove a turning point for "The Tigers", not us though.
We sat back on the lead they got a goal back, ok lets not panic and get the win! Barmby went off injured (hope he is ok!) They score again and the writing is on the wall, Hull City have blown a lead and get a draw.
While a corner is played at one end, Myhill runs to near the bench and said a few cross words! Next minute he handles outside the area and is sent off. The rest of the game potters on and it ends 2-2, before the game this would have been a good result but 50 min into the game you do not want anything less than a victory really!
What is wrong with the tigers, the contrast was astounding! To self destruct like that is not good at all! People who keep saying "be positive" fair comment but how can you be positive from that performance (incedently I was not there just listening live). There is a problem somewhere that needs to be sorted sooner rather than later.
I would have settled for a point at the start but then expected 3 and then lucky to get one! At this rate with Barmby out and Myhill out for 3 we will be lucky to be able to put 16 players out for the squad. Anyway a much better performance for an hour and then we hung on (how many times have I said that this season). A pity about Barmby and Myhill (man of the match even though he got sent off) - our two best players overall - still Duke sounded as though he did OK when he came on!

Hornsea Christmas Lights Night!
Tonight I went into the town centre to see the towns Christmas lights been turned on, and to assist on one of the stalls in the town . Unfortnately it rained quite heavily however quite a lot of people still turned out!
Also today about 500 people became stranded on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall near to Jamaica Inn following a crash which has closed a snow-hit road. More than 100 cars and coaches are on the blocked road, following the crash, which involved dozens of vehicles. Military helicopters have been called in to help police deal with what they are calling a major incident, following England's first snow of the winter.

Decent increase in performance, simple to use!
On the whole, this is a simple efficient firefox extension that does what it claims. It installs, it increases the speed of page loading in many circumstances, job done, no fuss. However using FasterFox, the default installation is for 'TurboCharged', which exceeds RFC specifications, and may place uneccessary bandwidth pressure on some servers, and may result in blocking from others.
However, I have installed the extension on my Firefox 1.0.7 browser and it appears to work well, however I am still not using Firefox 1.5 as my browser of choice yet due to problems with certain extensions! I am sure this will be sorted in time though!

Hull City 1 - Southampton 1
Nigel Quashie was sent off following a 19-man brawl on the stroke of half time as Hull City and Southampton shared the spoils. Southampton dominated the first half and should have had more than the one-goal leadby the time Hull levelled the score through Nick Barmby just before the break.
However, the match erupted in the dying seconds of the first half when Southampton's Matt Oakley and Hull's Curtis Woodhouse tangled and Nigel Quashie came storming in followed by every other player on the pitch apart from both goalkeepers and Saints striker Theo Walcott.
After the game Southampton manager Harry Redknapp was exasperated by the incident. Hull manager Peter Taylor tried to look at the positives after his side served up a dire display, but he admitted that he is concerned about an injury to striker Ben Burgess.
Southampton took the lead with the fist real attack of the game. Walcott broke down the right and played infield to Quashie, who touched the ball to Kosowski, who fired a low right-footed shot to Boaz Myhill. With just 14 minutes played Burgess hobbled off to be replaced by Barmby and Hull struggled to cope with the change as well as Southampton's impressive, expansive game.
Brett Ormerod clipped the upright with a shot on the turn from six yards and Walcott and Rory Delap both missed decent openings. City failed to threaten in the second period and the lively Walcott came the closest to a winner with two long-range efforts that were turned aside by Myhill.
It was great to get a point but we should have won the game. After a positive team selection by Peter Taylor with the three stikers we struggled to make any impact in the first half. The problem is that we are lacking in many departments. Hull City has not had a successful striker since Burgess/Allsop in League 2. Last season we scored many goals but they mostly came from midfield players, Elliot and Green.
We need someone who will get us 20 a season and we haven't got that. Fagan would be better off turned into a right winger. Brown is going back to Sunderland, hopefully very soon as he is awful. Burgess could be out for a while again. Payter needs time to settle in but he doesn't look like the player that we need. Barmby isn't an all out striker, even though he is the only one scoring.
We need to either sign an old head, like Windass who will get us goals or someone who is scoring, like Lee Trundle. We also need a creative and big midfield. It is clear that Green is not the man and Welsh and Woodhouse, even though they are very good players, are too small and not commanding enough to dominate a midfield. Come on Adam Pearson, open up that wallet and spend some big money or we are going to struggle all season. Sorry for the rant, but this is just the way I feel about Hull City at present!

Reading 3 - Hull City 1
Unfortunately today Hull City where beaten by two goals in an explosive minute midway through the second half. Which saw Reading (second in the championship) defeat Hull to move within a point of championship leaders Sheffield United. The visitors looked to have snatched the draw when Nicky Barmby's close-range header cancelled out Bobby Convey's early opener.
But an acrobatic strike form Kevin Doyle was quickly followed by Glen Little's side-foot finish to seal a 3-1 win for Reading and extend their club record unbeaten run to 21 games. Personally I am not too surprised due to the fact that the match was away and Reading seem to be in good form at present! I think Peter Taylor really needs to improve things and quickly, we want longer than one season in the championship.

Children in Need raises 17.2 million pounds!
I was pleased to see the BBC's Children in Need appeal marked its 26th year with a record 17.2 million pounds pledged this evening.
The BBC said the total was slightly higher than last year. The overall total was expected to grow to more than 30 million pounds when all donations were in.
Madonna, Tony Blair and the BBC newsreaders all took part in the seven-hour show.
The girl group Liberty X started the celebrations with the Children in Need single "A Night to Remember". Madonna also performed her number one single "Hung Up".
The Prime Minister was pranked by John Culshaw, an impersonator from Radio 4's comedy programme Dead Ringers.

Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today. On this day people across the nation pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave service men and women.
To commemorate this I went with my local Scouts to the remembrance day service in Hornsea! It was not so long ago when I carried the flag for the town at this service on behalf of the 1st Hornsea Scout Group! I also spent a while at the gym today to increase my fitness, before heading home at 10p.m. (pretty late) after my work out!

Argentina 2 - England 3
This evening I was pleased to see Michael Owen scoring two dramatic late goals to earn England victory in a friendly against Argentina.
Striker Hernan Crespo, who plays his club football for English champions Chelsea, gave Argentina a 35th minute lead, England's Wayne Rooney levelled four minutes later and Walter Samuel looked to have won it in the 54th minute by putting Argentina 2-1 up.
But Owen, who signalled his arrival on the game's biggest stage with a wonder goal against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup, headed an 87th minute equaliser and followed up by nodding in a stoppage time winner. So thanks to Rooney and Owen, England are once again looking like World Cup contenders, which is good.
UPDATE: I have now put a link in the post title to the Football Associations website, that shows the highlights of the game!

Wembley chief's Cup final doubts
The chief executive of the new Wembley stadium has admitted it may not be ready for the 2006 FA Cup final. Wembley chief Michael Cunnah told BBC Five Live: "We're going 100% for the Cup final at Wembley, but nobody can guarantee it."A harsh winter could delay the completion of the project, with the 13 May showpiece the first major event.
This is what the new wembley is expected to look like, very impressive I do think, I would like to thank Twenty Four Seven London for providing the picture featured.

Hull City loose Anderson but gain Welsh and more!
City have accepted an offer from Liverpool to allow Paul Anderson to move to Anfield, with John Welsh coming the other way. Anderson a 17-year-old winger, joining the club's youth team at the start of last season. He is yet to make his senior debut, but Liverpool have been monitoring his progress in the juniors and the reserves. Their initial advances were rejected, but they have now come back with an improved offer and Anderson himself would prefer to make the move, so City have accepted.
The deal involves numerous add-ons that will benefit the Tigers in the long run if Anderson makes the step up to first team football at Liverpool, or if he is sold. It also sees midfielder John Welsh joining City permanently. He signed on a season-long loan in September, but if personal terms are agreed then it will become a permanent move in the January transfer window. The England Under-21 international has played 15 times for City already.

What is a blog?
As this has been a topic of much conversation recently I thought I would state that a blog is supposed to be a persons personal thoughts as described below. The blog format of an online diary makes it possible for users without much experience to create, format, and post entries with ease.
People write their day-to-day experiences, complaints, poems, prose, illicit thoughts and more, often allowing others to contribute, fulfilling to a certain extent Tim Berners-Lee's original view of the World Wide Web as a collaborative medium. In 2001, mainstream awareness of online diaries began to increase dramatically.
Personal opinions on experiences and hobbies are very common in the blog world. Blogs have given the opportunity for people to express their views to a mass audience. What may have been created to be used among a few friends may be viewed by the internet-using public.
P.S. More photos coming to my flickr account very soon!

Problems in France!
Why can't the French keep there house in order? Two policemen were shot in confrontations south of Paris, several public buildings were set on fire and at least 186 arrests were made throughout the country in connection with the disturbances, much of it involving gangs of youths.
A call by French President Jacques Chirac for a return to order went unheeded as opposition politicians criticised his public silence on the violence until yesterday.
The violence began in a Parisian suburb on Oct 27 after two teenagers, one of African and the other of Arab origin, were electrocuted while hiding from police in a power substation after fleeing an identity check.
Since then, more than 4,300 vehicles have been burned and more than 1,000 people have been arrested.

Microsoft plunges into the world of digitising books
Microsoft has plunged into the world of digitising books. Like Amazon and Google, Microsoft will provide search access to "25 million pages of material from the British Library."
Unlike Google, Microsoft will only digitise older books that are in the public domain, thus not infringing any copyright laws, though they plan to expand the collection "in the future." It looks like the trend is catching on.
Maybe, most books will be available online in just a few years; I personally think that this is a good use of the mega-power that these companies have. I hope that authors see it that way, too.

Guy Fawkes Night
Guy Fawkes Night celebrations, which takes place in towns and villages across the country, involve fireworks displays and the building of a bonfire, upon which is burnt an effigy representing the most famous of the conspirators, Guy Fawkes. So tonight I am helping with the local Scout Groups stall at a local bonfire. The night is closely associated with the popular rhyme which begins:
Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Unfortunately Hull City also lost this afternoon, Hull got off to a flyer when Nick Barmby marked his return to the side by firing them into a sixth-minute lead. But Gavin Mahon got Watford back on level terms two minutes later and Matt Spring fired them in front shortly before the half-time interval. Hull's Stuart Green blew the chance of a point with a dreadful 72-minute penalty after John Welsh was fouled.

Hull City loose by 3 goals to 0 against Preston North End!
Hull City lost at Preston North Ends Deep Dale Stadium by 3 goals to 0. It was the first home win of the season for Preston North End, I am sorry to say. The changes Peter Taylor has just made have failed. The midfield simply isn't good enough, Brown is not good enough, and our 2 wingers are not functioning at all.
We don't need forwards, a couple of good quality proven effective midfielders are the order of the day, I think that all this buying players from lower leagues is not going to cut it, even with the injury problems, the team is too light weight!
Buy some decent proven players for god sakes Peter, before its too late. As after all it is important to remember that it is not the end of the season anytime soon, thank goodness!

Tonight, after many days of trying I made it to the Gym once again, to have my regular workout! However, the problem was on making my way to the Gym, I got so wet I felt like I'd had a swim in the sea, so much for a short shower!
However, when I got to the Gym I soon dried out doing my various work outs on various different machines! So at present I am doing relatively well at keeping fit, I am making it to the Gym at regular intervals, all this working out cannot be good for you I am sure! Will speak again soon.

Implemented and improved search functionality!
Today I spent some time including and improving the search functionality on the Scouting 2007 UK Site, the French 2007 site and also the World Scout Jamboree site! So now all the Scouting 2007 sites have fully working search functionality, like the EuroJam site, so things seem to going well and are all working after approximately five hours of work and research today!

Should the way we change clocks be altered?
British Summertime ends this weekend with clocks due to go back an hour creating an extra hour of daylight in the morning but longer, darker evenings. However, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has suggested the introduction of Single/Double Summertime in a bid to reduce road accidents.
Under this system, clocks would no longer return to Greenwich Mean Time in October but would remain one hour ahead until March, when another hour would be added.
Personally I think this system has worked well for decades. If it ain't broke, why change it? Most of the Northern Hemisphere changes clocks summer/winter. We stayed on BST for a while some years ago but nobody liked it.

Hull City 0 - Burnley 1
Unfortunately, a 29th minute goal from Ade Akinbiyi condemned the Tigers to defeat in front of the Sky cameras again, they bring nothing but bad luck as we lost 1-0 at Burnley. It was harsh on City who more than matched their hosts and created several good chances in an entertaining contest.
This evening I intend to go out with friends in the Hornsea area, and maybe even go to the Floral Hall in the town!

No Scouts!
Scouts was cancelled tonight due to it being the half term holiday and thus meaning that not very many people could make it. I therefore spent the night working on various Scouting 2007 updates which needed completing as well as watching Spooks and some Doctor Who repeats on UKTV Gold, which where all very good!
Hope everyone I know is well! I also saw Bill Gates on the news saying that people are underestimating what Microsoft is doing with search technology. He also told the BBC that its ambition is to be bigger than Google in terms of search. We will just have to see how that works in the long run, as at present I use Google as my default search engine!
P.S. Tonights post is my 500th since I started using Blogger in 2003

Sheffield Universities Recruitment Fair
Today, I went to Sheffied to continue my hunt for a career, it involved making a trip to the Octagon Centre at the University of Sheffield and the day was very interesting with lots of potential recruiters at the event, that I talked to at great length.
However, I have to say that the traffic at 5p.m. in the centre of Sheffield is very heavy and after being stuck for three quarters of an hour in rush hour (5p.m.) traffic we decided to stop at Sheffields Meadowhall Centre on the way back.
After a rather long look around the shops it was soon 9.45p.m. and we decided it was maybe time to make our way home, after such a long and tiring day. So much for my intended visit to the Gym on the night of the fair!

Gym!
Today, after many days of trying I made it to the Gym once again (for the second time in a week), to have my regular workout! It's funny but since I have been back in Hornsea I haven't been attending the Gym that much. On average though I am still doing relatively well at keeping fit, I am making it to the Gym at twice weekly intervals, not good enough I hear you cry, but it is really just a question of finding time!

Alonso wins Chinese Grand Prix, therefore Renault beats McClaren to constructors title!
Today I watched the Chinese Grand Prix which Fernando Alonso won, leading from pole to flag, and with Giancarlo Fisichella fourth Renault celebrated its first constructors' championship as a full works team. In a race of bizarre incidents, that began even before the lights went out at the start, McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen came home second and the Toyota of Ralf Schumacher was third.

Hull 2 - Derby 1
I was pleased today to see that Hull could secure their first home victory for two months with Stuart Green converting a late penalty to secure Hull's first home victory since 20 August. Stuart Elliott gave Hull an early lead with a fierce left-foot shot after Ryan France and Chris Brown set him up.
Derby hit back and Stern John hit the bar and had a goal disallowed before Inigo Idiakez equalised with a penalty. Derby continued to dominate but Green punished them before Seth Johnson had a goal ruled out and then Andrew Davies was sent off for a second booking.

Lost
I watched both channel 4's episode of lost this evening and E4's first showing of the next episode. The series has been very good so far, it is based around forty-eight survivors of a mid-Pacific plane crash who are stranded on a mysterious island of harsh terrain, cruel weather and dark secrets, including a frightful creature that stalks the jungle.
And some of the castaways have dark secrets of their own...Thousands of miles off course and with no rescue in sight, they must work together to stay alive. But the survivors' pasts keep coming back to haunt them – and threaten the group's ability to endure. The doctor and the rock star, the con man and the drama queen – the castaways are all different. But they are all the same. They are all lost.

Hull City 1 - Reading 1 & Gym
Very Good game at the KC tonight. Tigers battled back after a tough start and ended up disappointed at only taking 1 point.
We had to survive a torrid opening 15 minutes. Reading had 5 corners and a free kick by the corner flag, put in another dozen or so crosses and broke quickly through Bobby Convey, Lita & Doyle. They were clever, whenever Woody and Welsh pushed on, Convey drifted in from the left and took up a position between our midfield and back four, every clearance out of defence found him. Great football.
We eventually settled, the two in midfield worked very, very hard. France got forward when he could and Ellison and Green supported the front two well. Today, I also made my way to the gym I have joined at Hornsea Leisure Centre in order to increase my fitness!

Torchwood on BBC 3!
Today, I am pleased to hear that the BBC are making yet more Doctor Who spin offs. Torchwood will be a 13-part drama series aimed at a post-watershed audience and has an organic link to Doctor Who.
The BBC press office says "It's dark, wild and sexy, it's the X Files meets This Life. It's a stand-alone series for adult audiences which will have its own unique identity.". So, good news and that shows the BBC still have a creative streak, and with more Who to follow, what more can I say, other than the BBC looks to be producing lots more good things in the future!

Fernando Alonso wins in China!
Fernando Alonso has fittingly won an incident-packed Chinese grand prix to secure the championship double for Renault. On a day on which deposed champion Michael Schumacher crashed before the race and spun in a safety car period. He finished clear of Kimi's McLaren, with the other silver car, Juan Pablo Montoya, out of the race after running over a drain cover.
Giancarlo Fisichella was handed a drive through penalty for driving too slowly in pitlane, handing the last podium slot to Ralf Schumacher. Renault won the F1 constructors' battle by 9 points from second placed McClaren, so the second placed team will have to try better next year!

Hull City draw 1-1 away at Southampton!
It was a productive first ever visit to the St. Mary's Stadium for City as Kevin Ellison's 79th minute equaliser gave them a 1-1 draw against Southampton. Matt Oakley had put the home side ahead after 44 minutes but the Tigers dug deep in the second half and Ellison's leveller was no more than they deserved.
Peter Taylor made two changes to the side that drew with Millwall the last time out. A long clearance from Myhill was controlled by Fagan and he played Ellison in down the left side of the Saints area. The angle was tight but the substitute lashed a strike that beat Niemi, hit in the inside of the near post and ended up in the far corner of the net.
It was tremendous finish to the game and just reward for the Tigers' bravery in the face of some serious pressure against the ex-premiership team! So I just want to say come on you tigers!

More Windows Patch Problems!
A Microsoft patch meant to fix critical security flaws in Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 is causing trouble for some users, even though I should add that I installed this patch today without any problems.
The patch was released today to fix four Windows flaws, including one that experts predict will be exploited by a worm in the coming days. The flaw, tagged "critical" by Microsoft, lies in a Windows component for transaction processing called the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator, or MSDTC.
Installing the patch can cause serious problems, Microsoft said in an advisory posted to its Web site. The patch could lock users out of their PC, prevent the Windows Firewall from starting, block certain applications from running or installing, and empty the network connections folder, among other things, the software maker said in an advisory note on its website. I am sorry but I can't think of anything else to say today!

Kimi Raikkonens McClaren wins Japanese Grand Prix!
Well after this afternoons Formula 1 extravaganza I think I should sit down and remember what Formula 1 is normally like! Kimi Raikkonen grabbed a sensational victory in the Japanese GP after overtaking Fisichella on the final lap of the race.
Starting 17th on the grid, the Finn steadily moved up through the field before finally taking the lead with just a few corners remaining.
It was a fitting end to what was indisputably the best grand prix of the season. There was action throughout the race as Kimi and Fernando Alonso who took third after taking to the grass in a bid to overtake Mark Webber. Kimi then charged up through the field from the back of the grid, to win another grand prix for the McClaren Mercedes Team!

England reach the World Cup Finals (just)! So not all doom and gloom!
ENGLAND have reached the 2006 World Cup finals. I personally think that England fans have more to celebrate than they perhaps realise. Come along now, your team is in the World Cup. The reaction to the news of Sven-Goran Eriksson's side booking their tickets to Germany next summer has been muted to say the least. Come on England get yourself motivated, to prove to everyone you are truly world class!
The feel-good factor was not helped by the fact that England's mediocre showing in beating Austria today did not earn qualification - that came several hours later as the Dutch beat the Czech Republic 800 miles away.
Great drama - in the manner of David Beckham's last-minute free-kick against Greece in 2001 which secured the place in the 2002 World Cup - it was not. Plus, it was raining. If they want to live up to media expectation they will have to do a lot better than this in 2006! I am a optimist and I believe they will do better, however whether they can win the World Cup I am not really that sure, but here's to hoping that Summer 2006 lives up to Englands expectations!

Scouts!
This evening I went to help at my local Scout Group which is normally was a enjoyable experience, as we split the group back into four patrols! We have yet to decide on the names of these patrols but it seemed to make the Scouts happy to be in a proper Scout Troop with patrols once again! As we haven't really had them for two years due to falling numbers, but the troop now has a average number of 25 scouts every week which is good, however, the explorer scout group is still unfortunately bigger than the Scout group!
I thought I also should add that Britain's Andy Murray is through to the Ethias Trophy third round in Belgium, which is good news.

Beckham & Owen give England Boost!
England captain David Beckham and striker Michael Owen look set to start Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Austria after training, which I think is good news for the England Campaign.
Sven-Goran Eriksson's side have stuttered in recent matches, culminating in an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Northern Ireland in their last game. Qualification for the 2006 showpiece in Germany is still in England's hands but they must win their last two remaining matches in Group Six, beginning with the clash against Austria on Saturday, to be sure of qualifying.
So come on England, show where the location of footballs home is once again! And prove that the all new Wembley will have a use for a top class team.

R.I.P. Ronnie Barker
TV comedy actor Ronnie Barker, who starred in Porridge and The Two Ronnies, has died aged 76. One of the most loved and respected comedy performers of his generation, he was best known as one half of a double act with Ronnie Corbett.
But he also proved himself as an outstanding sitcom actor and script writer, winning four Bafta TV awards. I personally thought he was one of the best actors on British TV due to both his roles in Porridge and Open All Hours with David Jason, I think British TV will be a worse of place without his contribution. I also spent this evening working on various EuroJam and Scouting 2007 websites!

Why are computers silly sometimes??
Tonight, I logged onto my computer to check my email and my computer froze, after many hours of trying to fix this problem I finally did it, it turned out to be a conflict between Windows XP Service Pack 2 and my email program. A problem that it took a while to find a solution to, meaning my posts are late once again this week. Sorry for keeping everyone in suspense.

Hull 1 - Millwall 1
Ben Burgess's equaliser saved City from a third successive home defeat. City started the game with a 4-4-2 formation, with Mark Lynch, Andy Dawson, Stuart Green and Nick Barmby recalled to the starting line-up. Curtis Woodhouse did his job on the post to clear a Carl Asaba header from a 12th minute Millwall corner.
Nick Barmby had the best of a series of half-chances for City, lobbing just over. Ben Burgess came on at half time as Peter Taylor changed to a formation talked about before the game. Despite City's new attacking style, it was Millwall who scored first. A cross came in and Myhill saved from Dunne, but the rebound fell to Asaba who shot into the empty net, just after the hour mark. City showed spirit to fight their way back into the game being played under heavy rain, but were failing to create anything to worry the visitors.
City continued to go after it until the final whistle, but a winner didn't come and both sides will be happy enough with a point. I think that if Ben Burgess hadn't come on the game would have been lost as at present Stuart Elliot still cannot find his feet in this division, hopefully it will only be a matter of time!

I was pleased to see today that Mozilla has released a new version of Firefox (1.0.7), that automatically downloaded and updated the extensions as promised, which I must say is very good. Tory party left leaderless, as Blair promises to stay on!
The Tory party was left leaderless for a further three months on the day Tony Blair promised to stay on as Prime Minister to lay the foundations for a fourth successive Labour election victory.
The contrasting fortunes of the parties were brought into sharp focus yesterday when Michael Howard's plans to reform the Conservative leadership rules were rejected by his party at the same time as Mr Blair was dashing Gordon Brown's hopes of an early hand-over of power.

Hull City back to winning ways!
I am pleased to see that Hull City seemed to make light work of Coventry. But overall I think we need to be greatful that Peter Taylor mananged to get on-loan Liverpool midfielder John Welsh, as he scored a goal in each half as 10-man Hull beat Coventry at the Ricoh Arena. The 21-year-old powered home a right-foot shot from the edge of the penalty area before the break.
Hull defender Mark Lynch was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 70th minute and Coventry looked well set to take advantage. But Welsh dealt the hosts a killer blow in the second half, curling home a fine shot from the left side of the box. If we could have beaten both Stoke & Luton 1-0, we'd be in 4th place now!
I thought I would also mention today that it is 40 years since Dougal Haston and Doug Scott have become the first Britons to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest! The men arrived at the top of Mount Everest via the previously unclimbed south-west face, 33 days after establishing their base camp. The team succeeded on a difficult direct route which has repulsed five other attempts and set a record for the fastest time up the peak.
Expedition leader Chris Bonington reported the pair had reached the 29,028ft (8,848m) summit safely and were now on their way down the mountain. He also said they were ahead of schedule and hoped more of the 18-strong group would be able to reach the top. The south-west face of Everest is still regarded as one of the most difficult challenges in mountaineering because of its length and exposure to high-level winds. So you can't say my blog isn't slightly educational!

Five years ago Steve Redgrave won his fifth olympic gold!
Five years ago today british rower Steve Redgrave entered Olympic history by winning his fifth consecutive gold medal. Redgrave won his gold alongside Matthew Pinsent, Tim Foster and James Cracknell in the coxless fours on day eight of the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. It doesn't really seem like five years ago does it, or is life just moving to fast!

British tennis number 1 Tim Henman contemplates end of career!
I was dissapointed to read today that Tim Henman could be thinking about retirement at the end of 2006!
British number one Tim Henman has hinted he will quit tennis if he cannot recapture his best form in 2006. After a testing year, the 31-year-old star said if results do not start going his way he could hang up his racket. "I have belief in my qualities as a player and expect the results to come," Henman told BBC Sport. "But if I'm doing the right things in practice, after a month or three months of things not happening a player does question himself." Henman almost wrote off the 2005 season after failing to find his groove in practice and suffering from back and shoulder problems.

Today was ITV's national walking day, so I went for a walk!
Today I went for a walk in the countryside, to try and improve my fitness. I ended up coming in and reading the following on the above website! I also noticed that this website seems to be saying that the best walks are in the North West. I don't really agree with that fact, as I live in Yorkshire, and I believe the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales offer some of the best walking areas
In the North West however, footpaths and organised trails criss-cross the country from the Solway Firth to Cheshire, giving you more freedom than ever to explore and enjoy the region’s gloriously varied landscape.
Walking is also a direct route to fitness. In an age of diets and ritzy gyms, it’s stealth health! The benefits of a regular walk, at a reasonably brisk pace, include improvements in blood pressure, stamina and joint condition. It’s great for your heart and if you stick with a programme, as well as eating healthily, you’ll find that your energy levels gradually increase, you feel better overall and, over the long term, it’s likely that you’ll find yourself losing weight in a sustainable way.

Hull 0 - Luton 1
Unfortunately, Steve Howard's late strike helped Luton maintain their excellent early-season form with a narrow win at Hull. I think that Hull where put off due to the early start required by Sky, but that is as they say football!
Even though the possesion throughout the match was about 50:50, the Hull team seemed to forget that they where supposed to defend and Howard rifled home a right-foot strike from inside the six-yard box, with only five minutes remaining. How many times have we seen that this season! Luton keeper Marlon Beresford saved from Stuart Green and Chris Brown, while Hull's Bo Myhill thwarted Dean Morgan and Carlos Edwards.
Hull's Nick Barmby and Luton's Ahmet Brkovic had first-half efforts ruled out for offside. Another disappointing result after two succesive promotion parties, but I honestly think Peter Taylor will have to think about changing a few more faces in the squad if we ever hope to be in the Premiership!

Long time, no blog!!
Sorry but at the moment I have been busy with other things so have not had time to blog!! So I am doing it all at once, the good news is that now I don't just have 512kbps broadband. Onetel the nice people have upgraded their service to 2Mbps so hopefully this will make it easier to post at more sensible times, however when they upgraded me at the exhange they managed to put me on the wrong broadband channel, so this is my reason for the late posts, due to lack of broadband. On the old 512kbps service between 5p.m. and 6p.m. it was becoming so hard to post, due to the number of people utilising the service, but now with 2Mbps it should be much better!

I think this site is quite a good idea as pointed out by Simon on his blog:
http://www.petroldirect.com/
Nice to know someone's thinking of drivers of bigger cars, as the petrol prices have fluctuated quite widely lately, in fact at a garage near me the price was £1.03 a litre. It made the front page of the local paper!

Well good news tonight in that Spooks is back on the beeb, in tonights episode a bomb exploded in a London street market, with the team having to race against time to stop hundreds of people being killed. I do not think I have given to much away in that quick synopsis as it is very similar to the one on the BBC's site! I will just say that so far, with just one episisode gone the new series of Spooks looks very, very good!

Raikonnen wins in Belgium G.P.
Kimi Raikkonen kept the championship title race alive for another two weeks with victory at the Belgian Grand Prix. His McLaren team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya led for most of the race only to crash out just after Raikkonen had taken the lead after a late pit stop.
However, championship leader Fernando Alonso's second place means he remains favourite to take the overall title. BAR's Jenson Button recovered from a poor start to take third while Michael Schumacher crashed out on lap 25.

Crystal Palace 2 - Hull City 0
Today I was not happy to see that poor defending led to City conceding two goals to Crystal Palace and coming home from Selhurst Park empty handed. City started the match with a good amount of possession against last season's Premiership relegation victims.
Early in the second half, Stuart Elliott wasted a header while at the other end Jon Macken shot wide. Later, the ball set up for Damien Delaney but he put a typical centre back's shot flying into the stand. City were awarded a free kick right on the edge of the area but substitute Stuart Green's attempt was useless as it sailed over.
There was only going to be one outcome in that situation as he buried the ball in the back of the net for 2-0 and the Eagles' fourth successive win.

Beatles hailed best of British!
The 1967 Beatles track, A Day In The Life, has been hailed the best British song of all time. The song, which featured on the classic Beatles album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, topped a survey of music experts by Q magazine.
The magazine called the track "the ultimate sonic rendition of what it means to be British". The Kinks' song Waterloo Sunset came second in the poll, ahead of Oasis' Wonderwall in third place.
Earlier this year, in a survey to find the greatest tune between 1955 and 1964 BBC Radio 2 listeners overlooked two Beatles singles in favour of The Kinks' You Really Got Me. Personally I still think Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen is the best British song of all times but thats just my personal opinion!

Thousands return to New Orleans!
Well I suppose it is good to see this evening that long traffic queues have formed on the approaches to suburban New Orleans as residents who fled Hurricane Katrina's floods return to inspect their homes. Engineers finally sealed one of the levees breached by the storm as rescuers sought survivors in the city.
President George W Bush has been in the region again, after finally finishing his very long hoilday! Wouldn't you have thought that if a disaster occured he could cut short his Summer vacation by a few days, but that is as they say George Bush! He left it mainly up to two ex-presidents his father and Clinton to launch a national disaster appeal. Mr Bush has also declared a state of emergency in 10 US states, thus enabling federal funds to be made available there to assist with the evacuees.
Anyway, thats enough political ranting for one evening, I hope my readership is well and the teachers are all enjoying there days back at School!

Montoya wins in Italy, the home of Ferrari!
McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya won the Italian Grand Prix as Fernando Alonso extended his championship lead over Kimi Raikkonen by finishing second.
Michael Schumacher was philosophical after his 10th place in the Italian Grand Prix signalled the end of his five-year reign as world champion. "There is no point getting angry," said the German, who trails Fernando Alonso by 48 points with only 40 up for grabs.
The Ferrari star added: "We were much too slow and nowhere near where we want to be, but we have to live with it. "The championship was obviously lost a while ago, but we have had a lot of good years before this one."

England 1 - Wales 0
Joe Cole's second-half winner sank Wales and kept England on course for World Cup qualification. Cole broke the deadlock after 53 minutes when his shot from Shaun Wright-Phillips' cross was deflected past Danny Coyne by Danny Gabbidon. England dominated throughout, but goalkeeper Paul Robinson needed to produce a brilliant save from John Hartson to stop Wales taking the lead. So, satisfaction was not the most obvious sentiment among the England players and management departing Cardiff but it was a word chosen by David Beckham.
Sven-Goran Eriksson now has to decide where Beckham will play at Windsor Park. If the manager has got this new system out of his system then the England captain may find himself back at right midfield and up against Hull City's Stuart Elliott, it could be a personal clash of loyalties for me, as at present Stuart Elliot is a very good player and unfortunately at present David Beckham does not seem to be the player he once was, maybe it is something about Spain, good footballers go there and come back not so good!
Now it is Belfast for England and, in Northern Ireland, another side who are clearly inferior. A whole team of holding midfielders could probably beat them. But England need to convince as well as win before the satisfaction grows.

Fascinating facts about the month of September!
After having a long think about what to write this evening for my 444th post, I thought I would write some fasinating facts about the month of September for your perusal! I have now been a current poster on blogger since June 2003, which is a bit worrying, maybe I should get out more! Anyway, here is some fascinating facts about the month of September courtesy of Wikipedia.
September is the ninth month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of four Gregorian months with 30 days. September begins (astrologically) with the sun in the sign of Virgo and ends in the sign of Libra. Astronomically speaking, the sun begins in the constellation of Leo and ends in the constellation of Virgo.
The name comes from the Latin septem, for "seven". September was the seventh month of the Roman calendar until 153 BCE. September is the start of the academic year in some countries, mostly in the west. September also begins on the same day of the week as December every year. In the year 1752, in the British Empire, the Gregorian calendar was adopted and as a result September did not have days numbered 3–13. The thing I found most amusing is that on Usenet, it is said that September 1993 never ended.

Michael Owen unveiled at Newcastle!
The England striker, who passed his medical on Tuesday, has agreed a four-year deal and is believed to have cost the Magpies a club record £17m. Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd said: "Bringing Michael here will rank alongside the signing of Alan Shearer as my proudest moment at Newcastle."
Alan Shearer and Michael Owen started together for England 13 times England won four, drew four and lost five of those games. The pair combined for nine goals in those games (Shearer five, Owen four). Liverpool had wanted to re-sign Owen but baulked at Real's asking price. Once Owen completes his move to Newcastle, his arrival at St James' Park will eclipse the money the club spent in signing Alan Shearer for £15m from Blackburn in July 1996.
The details of his contract with the Magpies are not known but reports suggest there may be various get-out clauses depending on the team's performance. "It will be a great achievement if we sign Michael," Newcastle manager Graeme Souness told the club's official website. "In football, the hardest thing to get is someone who puts the ball in the back of the net and Michael is the best at doing that for England. "I'd say it's the biggest transfer I've been involved in as a manager of any football club."
England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson believes it is a major boost knowing Owen will play regular football before next year's World Cup. "It is a great club. He will play regular football, much more than last season. I suppose he is very happy," said the Swede. "He will score goals for them and it is great to play with Alan Shearer. He is a good targetman and will give Michael Owen many chances, I am sure of that."
Owen was left out of Madrid's squad for the first game of their season after falling behind Ronaldo, Raul, Julio Baptista and Robinho in the pecking order at the Bernabeu.
Owen will bring a proven goalscoring pedigree to a team who have yet to score a Premiership goal so far this season. He was named European Footballer of the Year in December 2001 and, after 158 goals in 297 games for Liverpool, left for Real Madrid where he scored 16 goals as a bit part player.

Cup win could boost Hull!
Marketing chiefs are hoping to use Hull FC's high profile Challenge Cup victory to boost interest in the city. City officials believe the 25-24 win over Leeds has put the city's name on the map for the right reasons.
Hull Cityimage, the body in charge of promoting the city, said it was going to use the confidence generated by the result to positive effect.
Director John Till said: "We have got a whole number of things that we will be looking to do to build on this."

Hull City 1 - Leicester City 1
Unfortunately a second-half header from Patrick McCarthy rescued a point for Leicester as the Foxes rode their luck at the KC Stadium.
Hull hit the crossbar three times in a one-sided first half, before Craig Fagan eventually gave them the lead six minutes into the second half. However, Leicester dominated the closing stages of the game and deservedly drew level through McCarthy 20 minutes into the second half.
A superb cross from Stuart Elliott was headed on to the top of the crossbar by Fagan and then Elliott himself headed on to the other side of the bar following a free kick from Andy Dawson. Hull continued to threaten and visiting goalkeeper Robert Douglas produced an excellent save diving to his left to deny Fagan before Elliott's thumping header grazed the top of the woodwork yet again.
I think it was a bit unfortunate on the day that Hull couldn't make more of the chances Leicester gave to them at home, but that is they say football!

BBC plans to put channels on the net!
The BBC's TV channels will be made available on the internet, BBC Director General Mark Thompson has confirmed. He announced plans for the MyBBCPlayer - which will allow viewers to legally download seven days of programmes - at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
He said he hoped the service would launch next year. Mr Thompson said that unless the BBC adapted "we won't deserve or get licence-fee funding beyond 2016... that is very definitely not our plan".
A simulcast of BBC One or BBC Two, letting UK viewers see programmes on the web at the same time as they go out on TV, is also planned as part of MyBBCPlayer. I personally think that any other way to access BBC content is a good idea and is a must for the BBC!

Hull Slavery Museum Closed until 2007!
A museum devoted to the work of anti-slavery campaigner William Wilberforce is closing on Wednesday for 18 months. Wilberforce House in Hull city centre was where the MP was born in 1759.
Improvements to the galleries and displays are being made in time for the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade in Britain in 2007. When the museum reopens, the whole of Wilberforce's personal library will be on display for the first time.
Councillor David Gemmell said: "The redevelopment of Wilberforce House will form the centrepiece of the 2007 commemorations in Hull. "Its significance will raise the profile of the city both nationally and internationally."

Scouts!
Tonight I went to Explorer Scouts as usual in Hornsea, I helped to pack all the equipment needed for Summer Camp at Marlow next week. However, I have to say that with all the Scouting things I have done over the Summer it is good to return to the normal less tiring routine rather than the exhausting but enjoyable camping one! However I did have to answer lots of questions about the EuroJam experience which was good.
It did turn out to be a little bit strange because one of the leaders who hadn't actually being at EuroJam had a son in law who was a special constable at the event, and it was a little bit worrying when she seemed to know more about the event than me! However, this was pretty easy as I was on the web development team for the whole event so spent most of the time in the Communications Marquee.

Fainting Goats!
This is very amusing. You need the sound on to appreciate it fully. I think they're moving to the top of the farm yard animals list. Hope everyone is well and enjoyed SAGGA summer camp. Yes, I am finally feeling well enough to post consistently after my strong cold and flu I caught at EuroJam, why can't the weather in the UK be consistent?

McClaren win in Turkey!
Kimi Raikkonen surged to victory in the inaugural Turkish Grand Prix ahead of championship leader Fernando Alonso. The Finn's McLaren-Mercedes started on pole but was beaten to the first turn by Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella.
Raikkonen regained the lead on lap one and was never threatened again, reducing Alonso's lead to 24 points. Alonso took second in his Renault after a late error by McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya, who was third. Fisichella unfortunately held off BAR's Jenson Button who finished fourth.

Hull City 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 0
Today, I was pleased to see Ben Burgess, the Hull City striker who has recovered from a serious knee injury, got on the scoresheet for the first time in 14 months. Burgess replaced Nick Barmby with half an hour to go and made a big impact as he secured Hull's first championship win after 87 minutes.
Hull, who had been struggling to hold on to a first-half lead given them by Ryan France, were relieved when Burgess bundled the ball home after first hitting the post. "It's been a long battle for me but I know I can succeed at this level," he said.
Both teams went into the game looking for their first win and in a scrappy first half there were a lot of mistakes. However, Craig Fagan finally unlocked the Brighton rearguard late in the half with a strong cross-field run followed by a neat lay-off to France whose 20-yard drive was deflected past Wayne Henderson.
Finally as Brighton committed numbers to attack, Hull broke away with Burgess racing into to open field and driving against the post before scoring from the rebound. "I was really relieved that it came straight back to me," added Burgess.

Denmark 4 - England 1
A season that England hope will end in World Cup glory began in humiliating fashion last night with their heaviest defeat under Sven-Goran Eriksson. Denmark, superior tactically and technically, brutally exposed England's defensive weaknesses in the second half, striking four times to the sole response from Wayne Rooney.
This score line was particularly worrying even though it was from a friendly played last night and away from home, hopefully we can improve before the world cup qualifiers start, as normal.

Looking at EuroJam Pictures!
Have spent the day collating my photos from EuroJam and whilst I was doing this I thought I would look at Mikes photos which are located here, they all seem to be very good photos, but after all it was a good fortnight and a very good way to spend your holidays, role on 2007! Even though I might regret saying that in the very near future!

Wolves 1 - Hull City 0
The Tigers suffered their first defeat of the season on a wet afternoon at Molineux. On the one hand, Wolves would have scored about 5 but for Boaz and a strong defence. On the other, we had what looked a perfectly good goal disallowed, and Elliott forced a pair of good saves late on.
I thought we had the best of the last 20 minutes too. Positively, the defence was superb. Wiseman coped very well, Myhill was immense, Coles and Delaney were awesome. The 'offside' goal looked OK to me. Ellison pressured, defender slipped, Elliott whacked across the face of goal and Barmby knocked it in. Will have to see it again, but looked OK to me.
Damien Delaney scored an own goal as Wolves beat Hull to extend their unbeaten run in the Championship to a club-record 21 games. Boaz Myhill saved from Kenny Miller in the opening minute but could do nothing when Delaney deflected a cross from Ki-Hyeon Seol.
Myhill saved from Carl Cort while Hull's Nick Barmby had an equaliser ruled out for offside. Stuart Elliott then went close for Hull, as did Joleon Lescott for Wolves. Peter Taylor said after the match that "For us to be in the Championship is a really big test and I've said all along Wolves would be one of the clubs up there challenging for promotion. In the first half Wolves produced lots of good moves, but we hung in there. In the second half we looked more confident in our chances of scoring a goal. Overall, I've been quite pleased with the way we played."

Floral Hall to see everyone!
Tonight as it was my first night out in Hornsea for a few weeks, I decided to spend a night in Hornsea, and not go to the Floral Hall. As I was tired from EuroJam and my job interview late in the week.
However, on after my visit to a pub in the town some friends of mine decided that it would be a good idea to go to the Floral Hall and you have to join them? Anyway, I decided to go to have a night out and see everyone which was good after several weeks of Scouting & EuroJam! Even though by 2a.m I was very tired and exhausted, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Back from EuroJam!
Today, I got back from the South of the UK after my fortnight at EuroJam, overall I wouldn't have missed the fortnight for the world as it has been a good few days, meeting lots of new friends and some old ones who it was good to see, including Simon, Heather and Jon from SAGGA. Seeing all these people made the event good for me.
However, towards the end I was particularly worn out and tired. So I am sorry if I missed saying goodbye to someone before leaving, I hope everyone is well, now I have finally got back round to blogging. I will try to keep this more up to date in the future, and I hope all the participants at EuroJam enjoyed the experience as it was certainly good for me!

Very, very tired!
I am very tired at this point but for most of the Jamboree the websites all seemed to work which was what the team I was on was responsible for during the event. Unfortunately the weather seems to be quite changeable at present with showers interspersed by sunshine!
Anyway at this point I am going to bed to try and get some rest as this is needed at present I will blog more when I arrive home! One thing I will say is the food at EuroJam is some of the best food I have ever had at camp, so congratulations go to the IST sub camp kitchens!

Sheffield Wednesday 1 - Hull City 1
Championship newcomers Sheffield Wednesday and Hull had to settle for a point each from an entertaining Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough. The hosts took an early lead when on-loan Leon Best finished from close range on his home debut.
Nick Barmby levelled with a superb half-volley and Jason Price and Leon Cort had attempts cleared off the line. But it was Stuart Elliott who missed Hull's best chance when he somehow missed with the goal at his mercy.

City get first draw of the Championship
City got a respectable draw in their first match since promotion to the Championship, drawing 0-0 with QPR.
I thought that it was a rough, physical game, and neither keeper had too many saves to make. The first strong challenge came in the opening minute, and ended debutant Mark Lynch's involvement for the day. The right-back shepherded the ball out for a throw-in, and after it did he received a kick from QPR centre forward Paul Furlong that sent him flying into touch.
QPR had a few reasonable chances they failed to make more of. Tommy Doherty put a shot from the edge of the area over, Kevin Gallen shot wide after receiving a ball over the top that Delaney couldn't deal with, and Furlong also missed to the pleasure of the home fans, who had been on his back since his controversial challenge on Lynch. The City defence were under some pressure, but played it safe to deal with it.
City also had a couple of sights of goal themselves in the first half. The linesman flagged when Steve McPhee redirected a shot onto the bar, and saw the ball deflected just wide after it was pulled back by Ryan France on the byline.

Developers see Londons Eastern Promise!
In East London, where towering skyscrapers stand alongside some of the UK's most deprived areas, is to be transformed over the next two decades! According to the BBC, see the above link, some of the projects involved include the Thames Gateway, Stratford City, London 2012, A large wind farm and new transport system including a new Thames Gateway Bridge! I am still at EuroJam, having a very good time, if a little damp! I am still maintaining the websites will see everyone soon!

Met lots of new people from countries I have only heard of recently!
At these European Scout Region activities you certainly meet a lot of new people from countries you have never visited, or in some cases never even heard of! Today, I have been talking to a Canadian, a Irish person, some Spanish people and even some French people, although I hasten to add that all these conversations have been in English as we are in the U.K. after all, and English seems to be the international language of these camps anyway, (luckily)!

Hull City A.F.C. vs Queens Park Rangers
With the Championship season almost upon us, the visit of Queens Park Rangers to the KC Stadium is something that we are all very much looking forward to this weekend!
Hull City A.F.C. have worked hard for the last four weeks, so everybody is looking forward to it. Everyone in the team has had a good pre-season, we've had a lot of games, everyone is fit and raring to go.
I'm sure there will be a fantastic atmosphere and it will be a fantastic game on Saturday.

Kimi triumphs against the odds!
Today I was pleased to see that Kimi Raikkonen scored a brilliant against-the-odds victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix on a day when world championship leader Fernando Alonso came away empty-handed.
Raikkonen arrived in Budapest on the back foot following his retirement from the lead at Hockenheim, which saddled him with the major handicap of being the first man out on the dusty Hungaroring circuit in qualifying.

EuroJam Opening Ceremony!
I thought the opening ceremony was pretty good with Peter Duncan (the Chief Scout and former Blue Peter presenter) abseiling on to the stage at the climax.
In the bit about the UK Scotland was represented by Franz Ferdinand and the Saltaire and Northern Ireland was represented by U2 and also by the flag of the Red hand on St Georges cross. England was represented by Robbie Williams.
The band was the Bogus Brothers and Stomp also featured. I took a seat out to watch the fun & games, I think a good night was had by all concerned, most importantly by the Scouts concerned!

Countdown to EuroJam!
Well, after a lot of work by all concerned including me, the time has nearly come for the event to take place down at Hylands Park, in Essex. If you take a look on the site we have placed a new countdown timer to tell you the exact time until the event takes place, and it actually corresponds with the one on my site which is amazing in itself! We actually changed the menu buttons on the website as well so go on take a look, by clicking the title above!
EuroJam will be the biggest Scouting and Guiding Event in Europe for 10 years. It is 12 action – packed days of new challenges and new friends from 29 July to 10 August 2005 at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, near London in the UK.
There will be participants from 57 countries, including all but one from the European Scout Region. With over 10,000 people on-site, the event promises to be the experience of a lifetime for Scouts and Guides from all over Europe and beyond. It should be quite a bit of fun as long as the British weather is kind to us, we shall just have to wait a short while now to see!

What does my birthday mean?
I was frequenting lots of different websites when I came across this on a link from James Weblog, I actually think it is quite true and quite interesting, so I thought I would include it hear for general viewing!
Your Birthdate: May 15
With a birthday on the 15th of any month, you are apt to have really strong attachments to home, family and domestic scene.
The 1 and 5 equaling 6, provide the sort of energy that makes you an excellent parent or teacher.
You are very responsible and capable.
This is an attractive and an attracting influence.
You like harmony in your environment and strive to maintain it.
You tend to learn by observation rather than study and research.
You may like to cook, but you probably don't follow recipes.
This number shows artistic leanings and would certainly support an talents that may be otherwise in your makeup.
You're a very generous and giving person, but perhaps a bit stubborn in ways.

Celebration for Graduation!
Tonight I went out to see "The Springsteen Experience" at Floral Hall in Hornsea, after all Carnival only happens in Hornsea once a year and I missed last years event due to completing my MSc in Scarborough! I saw quite a few people I had not seen for a while, including one I hadn't seen since I was 16 which was a long time ago! During the evening I celebrated completing my MSc and the graduation ceremony which after all can be just as stressful as the course itself, however, all went well and I think the evening was enjoyable for all concerned! Anyway until I make my next entry this is Andrew Kemp MSc signing off will speak again soon!

Graduation! (A Sunny Day in Scarborough!)
Well, the day dawned where I had to wear a cap and gown for the second time, to recieve my MSc. Which was just as an enjoyable experience as the first time! I went up on stage in a very hot Scarborough Spa to receive my award with several other students from my year at Scarborough, we then went on into Scarborough and had a last group night out which was a good night overall!
The guest speaker at the ceremony was Jonathan Raban, FRSL a well known novelist. As I sat on the stage I got to sit behind the Vice Chancellor David Drewry and next to Jonathan Raban!
Anyway, below I have included some pictures of the day that I thought may be of some interest, overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself! If you need any more information, or have any questions just comment!Fig 1: The MSc Group Fig 2: Me in cap & gown Fig 3: Scarborough Spa Main Hall
