Tonight I went out to celebrate the dawn of a New Year, and I also completed my part of the update on the Eurojam and Scouting 2007 sites which was good!
I hope there will be quite a few people out tonight as it will be good to celebrate the New Year with people I know!

Scouting 2007 Conference Call!
Today, I spent the evening reading through and making modifications to the various websites associated with Scouting 2007 and Eurojam! And then had a Scout Association conference call meeting, where we discussed all the things that need to be carried out when developing the three sites, Scouting 2007, Eurojam and the Eurojamlive site in the coming year! Hope everyone I know had a merry christmas and I hope the frivolity will continue into the New Year!
P.S. I am pleased all my SAGGA friends are back Blogging now, as my kinja digest now is looking a little more full!
P.P.S. I am also pleased to report that after listening to Hull City playing Doncaster Rovers this evening, City moved within two points of League One leaders Luton with a last-gasp victory over Doncaster.

Quake prompts massive aid effort
One of the world's largest relief efforts is under way to help the millions of victims of the Asia quake, as the death toll continues to mount. And also how come over Christmas you seem to loose track of the days, I'm sorry I did not keep my blog up to date, but I have been very busy with the joys of the Christmas period!

Two Christmas crackers from Northern Ireland star Stuart Elliott lifted a gloomy Boxing Day match!
Stuart Elliott, League One's leading scorer, recorded his 18th and 19th goals of the season as Hull claimed a comfortable win at Blackpool.
In todays match both sides struggled to get to grips with a bumpy Bloomfield Road playing surface in a dull first half in which chances were few and far between. The closest either side came was when former England ace and now Hull player Nick Barmby fired in a shot from the edge of the six yard box which had to be tipped over the bar by stand-in Blackpool keeper Lee Jones. At the other end, Boaz Myhill was a virtual spectator for most of the first period as Blackpool strikers Simon Lynch and Scott Taylor struggled to get any change out of big central defenders Damien Delaney and Leon Cort.
The second half started in brighter fashion with Hull creating chances through Delroy Facey and the influential Stuart Green while at the other end a driven shot from Rick Wellens forced Myhill into his first real save. Fifteen minutes into the half Hull finally found a breakthrough when substitute Danny Allsopp flicked on for the previously anonymous Elliott who scored his first with a powerfully hit drive through a narrow angle. Stuart Elliot is now the leading scorer in League 1!
Blackpool rarely threatened but had a good penalty shout turned down when Lynch hit the ground after a heavy challenge from Delaney but after the state furious protests from Hull players and fans, referee Stuart Mathieson saw nothing wrong and allowed play to go on. Elliott made the points secure on 84 minutes when another quick break forward gave him the chance to score goal number 21 for the season with another powerful left foot shot.
In the evening I went to the Floral Hall in Hornsea to see the last ever performance of a very good band known as the "Gutterband"!

50,000 dead - and toll still rising
Well it has been quite a strange and sad boxing day after the news of a epic tidal wave rocking 11 countries.
Medical supplies, food aid and water purification systems poured into the region, part of what the UN said would be the biggest relief effort the world has ever seen.
Rescuers struggled to reach remote locations where thousands more were likely killed by the deadliest tsunami in 120 years. Bodies, many of them children, filled beaches and choked hospital morgues, raising fears of disease across the region.
Anyway I have spent the day out with friends celebrating Christmas in Hornsea and I have seen some people I have not seen for a year or more, however the sad news of the natural disaster put a sad spin on the whole holiday period!

It's Christmas!
I ordered Microsoft Encarta 2005 Premium Suite and Encylopedia Britannica Deluxe 2005 today from Amazon at a special price that I received in a email that was less than half the regular price, and considering my last encyclopedia is now two years out of date, I thought it was a real bargin!
Tonight I went out in Hornsea and did my usual Friday, Thursday night thing, go to the pub with friends! I saw a lot of people I had not seen in a while which was good and I also think it is important to remember that it is Christmas after all!
Merry Christmas Everybody!

Hull City Keep Jason Price!
It looks like it will be a busy time of year for Hull City with an approach by Boston United for Tigers winger Jason Price been turned down.
Boston United who currently sitting just outside a play-off place in League Two made an attempt to sign the Welshman, but saw it rejected by City, which pleased me as Jason Price is a key backup player for the Tigers.
However, Boston United manager Steve Evans told their official site: "I spoke with Peter Taylor earlier today. I have built up a good relationship with my opposite number at Hull City, but Peter Taylor confirmed that the lad is still very much in his plans."
Meanwhile, fellow City winger Stuart Elliott is rumoured to be a target for Championship sides Sunderland and Leeds United, although neither the club nor the player seem interested in a transfer.
Last night I had my final visit of the year to the Gym and today I finished off wrapping my presents and writing cards, so that is it finished for another year, which is good! Let the christmas celebrations commence!

Hornsea Scouts Christmas Meal!
Well Christmas is finally here and tonight I am attending the local Scout groups Christmas meal. It is good to have finally finished my dissertation so I think some more celebration is necessary before Christmas!
I don't know about anybody else but I think it is wrong to have Christmas on a weekend as it throws you all to pot with things such as work! Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying there Christmas so far and according to this mornings weather forecast Scotland should have a white Christmas, but we shall just have to wait and see! Merry Christmas to all my readership will blog again soon!

Christmas is here!
I have officially finished and submitted my MSc dissertation, just got to wait two months now until I find out the results. I am glad to have finally finished this as I hadn't planned to be working on it upto Christmas but because I started it three months late I had three months longer in which to finish it off. Now it is finally finished, submitted and the presentation is complete! So now I can start my Christmas celebrations properly and some other good news for motor racing fans is that David Coulthard has signed for the new Red Bull Formula 1 team, see the link above!

Mozilla Firefox!
I'm an avid user of the Firefox browser. Based on Mozilla, it is a much faster and pleasanter way of browsing the web.
Firefox has been available as 'Release 1.0' for a couple of months now! And hence, I have been using as my default browser for a few months now!
So now I have my favourite tab-based browser, blocking pop-up ads, preventing nasty cookie arrivals, with built-in RSS integration, and I can now control everything through mouse movements e.g. open/close tabs or windows, refresh the page, etc. And it even has Athens intergration now which is useful for people in academia!
Try it... you'll like it!

Today I was celebrating Dissertation submission!
Today, I was celebrating the fact that my dissertation was complete, so during the day I went to the Gym before listening to Hull City A.F.C win once again in League 1, 2-1 against Colchester United which put them back into second position in league one, which was the first win at Layer Road since September 1964!
In the evening I went to Hornsea Floral Hall to see all my friends who are starting to return for Christmas, in doing this I was also celebrating getting my dissertation submitted on time, earlier in the week!
I was also impressed with my Christmas shopping ability meaning that it is now complete for this year, having now only to wait for a few more deliveries from the Royal Mail!
Hope all my readership and will have a very merry christmas, sorry once again about the infrequency of my Blog updates over the last two weeks, my dissertation has had to take priority.

Tougher anti terror laws proposed!
The home secretary has outlined plans for more far-reaching measures to tackle terrorism in the UK as can be seen in the above article sourced from the BBC site!
However, other people such as Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti said the government was playing on people's legitimate fears of terrorism and crime to bring in more draconian law and order measures. So, we shall just have to wait and see whether David Blunkett can get his new laws through the commons!
I have being once again working hard on my dissertation, only a fortnight to go now until submission day! I have also watched Van Helsig on DVD today which proved to be a good film! Will speak more tomorrow, hope everyone at the SSAGO rally had a good weekend despite the weather!

SSAGO Rally!
I hope everyone has a good weekend on the forthcoming SSAGO bond rally down south at Southampton, I wish I could have found the time in my hectic schedule at the moment to make my way down there, as rallies can be so much fun!
I will have to try and make it to the spring rally, however there is a slight problem in that is in Scotland, so that would involve a long trek! And with my web developer role with Scouting 2007 I am not sure I will have the time, but I will try!
Hope everyone has a good weekend in Southampton!

Scarborough & Pub!
Today, I have been a busy little bee once again by visiting Scarborough this morning to do further work on my dissertation, before returning to Hornsea and going to the pub with an old friend!
Hopefully tomorrow night the rest of my friends will be back as I have not seen them for seven days with all my work for my dissertation, which is due in pretty soon!
Tonight has been the 25th anniversary of BBC Children In Need and they had there broadcast centre for the North of England in Hull, about 15 miles from Hornsea!
Hopefully by the end of the night they will have raised more, nationally, than last year, hope they do, as the television show has been good, and better than normal Friday night TV!

Honda poised to make BAR F1 move!
I read with interest on the BBC website that Honda is once again going to take a large part in Formula 1 in the coming years, by maybe acquiring the British American Racing team! However, this will mean BAR team principal David Richards will move on, but the team will keep the same drivers Jenson Button and also Takuma Sato, who I personally do not think is a very good Formula One Driver, no offence Taku!
Honda has supplied engines to BAR for four years but wants to increase its commitment to winning in F1. A deal is said to be agreed, but sources differ on whether Honda will buy BAR outright or become a co-owner with a 40% shareholding.
Anyway with that all sorted it should make Formula One more interesting over the coming year! Today I have mostly being once again working on my Dissertation which is becoming harder work by the day, with only a month and a half till submission, I have really got to get working on it, will blog soon!

Meeting in Reading part 2!
Spent another day in Reading which turned out very enjoyable and once again very interesting day just like yesterday, overnight I stayed at the Reading South Premier Lodge which was an excellent experience and a lot quieter than the motorway travelodges I had previously stayed in! So, it was the first time I had stayed in one of these and I thought the experience was good, so therefore it will not be the last!

Meeting In Reading!
Today, I spent the day travelling down to Reading near London, for my meeting with the other members of the Scouting 2007 team at Microsoft, which turned out to be quite a productive day on which I met with friends I hadn't seen since August and found out what I will be doing at Eurojam & Scouting 2007. If I have planned it right I hope to do work on my Dissertation on the way down to Reading!

Beatles classic voted worst song!
I read this article on the BBC site with great interest this evening;
" The Beatles did not release Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da as a single in the UK. The Beatles' 1968 song Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da has been voted the worst song ever in an online poll. The track was on the band's White Album - which is regarded as one of the best albums ever made.
It was rated as being worse than former footballer Paul Gascoigne's Fog On The Tyne in a Mars survey of 1,000 people.
In third place was Meat Loaf's 1993 hit I'll Do Anything For Love, while 5ive, Cliff Richard, Vanilla Ice and Steps were also in the top 10.
The top 5 worst songs where;
1. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da - The Beatles
2. Fog on the Tyne - Gazza and Lindisfarne
3. I'll Do Anything For Love - Meat Loaf
4. Diamond Lights - Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle
5. We Will Rock You - 5ive featuring Queen
Three of the songs on the list are sung by footballers, including the 1987 song Diamond Lights by Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle.
Liverpool's Anfield Rap, featuring John Barnes, also makes the top 10.
Ian Edwards, lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Music, said: "Admit it or not, most of these are songs that we liked when they first came out.
"That is the nature of pop music as a part of fashion. Songs are popular at the time, but times change and often this results in embarrassing additions to your record collections.
"It is interesting to note that they were nearly all hits."
A spokesman for Mars said "they asked voters to base their answers on the song's merits, not their opinions of the bands. "
I will agree with all the choices apart from Number 3 which I think is a particularly good song, and Meatloaf a relatively good artist. 5ive's take of of queen was not memorable to say the least however! And Fog on the Tyne was not appealing due to Mr Paul Gascoigne's appearance, he should stick to what he was good at. The Footballers should really stick to football, I think!

Well Done Paula!
Today, I had a busy day, I got up this morning turned on my monitor and it decided to do some strange things, so much so that I thought it was on its last legs which worried me! However, I went back on it this afternoon and it appears to be OK so I do not know what caused that little problem!
Today, I went through to Hull to visit the University library to take various books back and to get some others out for further work on my dissertation! Whilst doing this I called into various locations to look at the price of new monitors, the good ones are quite expensive and I would like a CTX plasma monitor as my CTX CRT has been so reliable. I have had my CTX monitor for five years without having a problem with it which is good. However when I visited the shops in Hull no CTX monitors could be found which was worrying!
Anyway, I did some more work on my dissertation in the University library and came home, the library was very quiet, today! When I got home I watched Monarch of the Glen and saw that Paula Radcliffe had won the New York Marathon, hence the title of my post!

George Bush Wins in the U.S!
President Bush has admitted US election win which means that democratic challenger John Kerry has admitted defeat in the US election, giving President George W Bush a second term in office, we will just have to wait and see what other interesting decisions the president can cause in this term of office.
Personally, I thought that John Kerry would have made a better president, but the American people obviously didn't agree with me! And on the news of defeat John Kerry has said the fight has only just begun, so we will have to wait and see whether he can keep the pressure up on George Bush!
Today, I have been doing some more work on my dissertation, including creating a website plan, so I am now nearly at the design stage! The weather outside here in Hornsea has not been too hot, but I suppose it is England in November, no nice weather like in America! I am now going to make my way to the Gym so I will be back in time to see British Isles: A Natural History!

Scouting 2007 Web Team Meeting!
I have just found out that in two weeks time I will be making another trip down to Reading for another Scouting 2007 web team meeting! I hope it will be as enjoyable as last time, however I think it will probaby be not quite as warm as when I visited Reading last time at the end of August earlier this year. Today, I went through to Scarborough once again to do yet more work on my Dissertation!

Visit to CIC in Scarborough!
Spent the day doing more work for my dissertation, this time in Scarborough! I saw one of my old tutors and generally renewed my books and worked on my Dissertation in Hull Universities Scarborough Campus library!
Meanwhile it looks like it is crunch time for Bush and Kerry as the race for the White House goes down to the wire in the U.S. President George W Bush and Senator John Kerry spent the day careering across America's few undecided states yesterday in a frantic final pitch for votes, as last minute polls gave the president a slender lead.
An average of the polls ahead of election day tomorrow gave Mr Bush just a two-point lead, well within the margin of error.

Clocks go back & Halloween !
Halloween is an annual celebration, but just what is it actually a celebration of? And how did this peculiar custom originate? Is it, as some claim, a kind of demon worship? Or is it just a harmless vestige of some ancient pagan ritual?
The word itself, "Halloween," actually has its origins in the Catholic Church. It comes from a contracted corruption of All Hallows Eve. November 1, "All Hollows Day" (or "All Saints Day"), is a Catholic day of observance in honour of saints. Anyway I just thought I would give a few facts on Halloween tonight!
In the real world, last night I went out with friends once again, before spending the whole day working on my dissertation before visiting Scarborough this week. It will be my first visit for a fortnight! An added bonus was the extra hour in bed this morning which is always a bonus. Hope everyone is well and has also had a good evening!

Osama Bin Laden's Back!
Osama Bin Laden is back, and has sent a message to the U.S. and the Western World! In the video, he warns the US could face more 11 September-style attacks. I think this is a very worrying development and shows the Western World has not got rid of the mass terrorist Osama Bin Laden!

Dissertation!
Today, I have been a busy bee writing some more words for my dissertation! I am at this point looking forward to Christmas when it will hopefully all be over! My planned visit to the Gym did not take place today as planned, but I had decided that from now until Christmas work has to take priority over just about everything, apart from my blog, which I update at stupid times normally when I have finished work for the evening!

I have been a little bit busy today organising several things mainly my dissertation, which is due in, in an ever reducing number of weeks now! Hence, I have spent the day working hard on it and not updating my Blog as regularly as usual, hope my readership will forgive my late posts at present!

Windpower in the UK!
At the weekend I watched countryfile and saw that government targets demand that by 2010, 10% of our electricity must be provided by renewable energy. Currently, only 2.7% of our electricity comes from renewable sources.
Scroby Sands, where the program reported from consists of 30 wind turbines which will produce enough power annually to meet the demands of 44,000 homes.
The program said that this is just the start. The next stage of offshore wind farm development will see enormous wind farms built in the North West, the Greater Wash and the Thames Estuary. These wind farms will be the biggest in the world.
Countryfile said that the fishermen say that the massive offshore wind development will destroy their livelihood. But Alison Hill from the British Wind Energy Association is optimistic. She believes that this is an opportunity for the UK to be at the forefront of the green industrial revolution.
Really somebody should show the US how to go about turning green, but instead they run their 3.0 litre cars that provide endless pollution!
The debate about offshore wind farms focuses on England and Wales because there are currently no offshore wind farms in Scotland or Northern Ireland. There is a proposed site for an offshore wind farm off the north coast of Northern Ireland.
I have posted this because I believe future energy generation is very important, especially with my geographical background and therefore I thought it was important to highlight the issues being raised, and also I could think of nothing much to talk about. Good Evening!

Last Grand Prix of the Season!
Today, I watched the last Grand Prix of 2004 on ITV, which I was quite surprised was not won by a Ferrari as usual, Juan Pablo Montoya turned out to be the worthy winner and it looks like next year will be more exciting with the proposed new rule change! It will be a shame that Jaguar F1 (Ford) will not be on the grid next season, but you can't have everything I suppose.
Today, I have also been shopping for some new clothes as I really needed some new tops which I purchased from Next at Kingswood in Hull, which I am really pleased with, I also did some more work on my dissertation which was pleasing, anyway I will post again tomorrow, goodnight!

Hull City Playing Luton
The Tigers (Hull City) take on league leaders Luton at the KC Stadium today and striker Delroy Facey has said he is keen to treat the encounter the same as he would any other game this season. Lets hope the tigers win this weekend, as Luton have been off form just lately and it would be good if city could take three points from the fixture at the Kingston Communications Stadium, if they do they will be back in the top three in League One which would be good!
I have been working on my dissertation once again, however I am starting to get a little bit tired of trying to promote a place I do not live in! Anyway only another two months to go until I am finally finished my dissertation, and then my life will return to normal which will be good!

Spent the day working on my dissertation!
I had a fun day working on my dissertation, hence my late post!

Hull City Back to winning ways!
After yesterdays post I listened on the radio to Hull City playing Milton Keynes Dons, and they won which made a pleasant change for Hull City, even though they left it late once again!
This evening I made my way to help at Scouts as I normally do on a Thursday evening which was good, as it helped take my mind off my dissertation if only for a few hours! I Spent the day working on my dissertation once again which was good! Anyway we shall have to wait and see what tomorrow brings, speak soon!

Went to the University of Hull
Spent the day in the Brynmoor Jones library located on the University of Hull's main campus in Hull, it turned out to be a very wet day but nothing in my bag managed to get wet, thank goodness! So I spent more time working on my dissertation and renewing my library books!
Funnily enough I saw quite a few people I haven't seen for a long while! They all seem to be enjoying their life and that made me very happy as always, if anyone wants to contact me, there is always the contact box on my Blog, I would love to hear from anyone I know past friends or acquaintances or indeed people from University would love to hear from any of you to!

Dissertation!
Spent the day working on my dissertation, I am working very hard on my dissertation and have been working on this for most of the day! By the time the night came I decided a break was needed so I decided to watch the football on the television, still working on my Dissertation whilst Manchester United played Sparta Prague!

Can Britain Really Go Back to Coal?
I was quite interested in the linked article about Britains future dependance on coal! It seems only a few years ago, when I was studying G.C.S.E. Geography that we where told that there was no future for coal in energy generation in the U.K.
The report seems to be saying that not as many developments have taken place in renewable resources as was thought a few years ago. Mainly due to environmental disputes over the location of the renewable sources, such as wind farms and a lack of funding, and the old Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY), which is someone who doesn't want certain things in his/her immediate vicinity, like a wind farm or hydroelectric plant!
We all know the environmental problems people think they can cause, when realisticly they do not cause many problems at all. Last year I went on holiday to Wales and I saw the windfarms they have built on the moors around their, and they do not really look so bad, in fact you could maybe say they looked kind of beautiful!
And in some of our estuarine locations we could maybe create some resources to harness the tidal power of the sea, however, it seems from the above article we do need some more Nuclear Power Stations to help generate electricity until the renewable forms of energy can be made efficient enough to generate enough energy for all!
Anyway, this evening I visited the gym, this is the reason for my late post! Will speak more soon!

Gym
Today, after many days of trying I made it to the Gym once again (for the second time in a week), to have my regular workout! It's funny but since I have been back in Hornsea I haven't been attending the Gym that much. On average though I am still doing relatively well at keeping fit, I am making it to the Gym at twice weekly intervals!
I was watching the news this morning about the proposed placing of the US's son of star wars missile defence program in the North York Moors National Park, which will be quite controversial.
I also saw the governments plans for new cheaper housing to be built down south which is also controversial, as it would be the biggest building project for fifty years, since they built the commuter towns of the fifties, oh well that means more of the countryside will be lost!

Went out in Hornsea!
Went to the local public house to see my friends before moving on to Hornsea Floral Hall where a band where playing this evening, however I was already pretty tired having spent most of the day working on my dissertation and installing Firefox extensions.
Friday, October 15, 2004
Changed my default Browser to Mozilla Firefox!
I finally have got around to changing my default web browser! I have moved away from the default Internet Explorer under Windows to Mozilla Firefox, I think is a much better alternative, and with it being open source anyone can make extensions for it, which is good!

Scouts, Rain and blocked drains!
Having a nightmare of a day I awoke to find that all the rain water and bath water I had let out last night was not running away as the drain had become blocked! I rang Yorkshire Water but was told they probably could not sort it until tommorow as they have a backlog of similar complaints!
Talking about rain water, it sort of ruins the plans we had for Scouts in Hornsea tonight meaning that we will not be able to carry out anything outdoors, so it looks like some kind of indoor programme!

More work on dissertation!
Spent the day working on my dissertation once again! However, I got sidetracked into installing a newsreader on my computer called Rssreader, it is very good so now I know the ongoing news without having to leave my computer which is good! I still have not got my wireless-G PCI card working under linux which is causing more problems! However, I did spend the evening doing some more updates on the eurojam site, so take a look!
Tuesday, October 12, 2004
Eurojam site updated and more work done on dissertation!
Spent today working on my dissertation as well as updating the Eurojam website. I also tried putting news articles on the side of my blog courtesy of What the Papers Say but they would not fit, oh well I will just have to read them via email instead!
Tonight, I think I will go to the gym, so the statement I made yesterday will still be correct. I was going to go last night but got distracted by work and then a new series of the drama Spooks, "Which is MI5 not 9 to 5", on the BBC!
I also saw on the BBC News website that many of us will have to work longer to get a decent pension. The report said than 12 million working people are not saving enough for their retirement, a major report into pensions has found, which I have to say is a little worrying!
Monday, October 11, 2004
Downloaded Mozilla Firefox 1.0!
Today, I downloaded the latest release candidate of Mozilla Firefox, which is now up to 1.0! The only problem I found with it was it took a long time to download all the new releases of the extensions for it! Anyway, I have now got it and some extra extensions so I will now go back to using Firefox as my default browser once more!
I am starting to feel that I should really take a break from working at computers, but the problem is I try to take a break and then get distracted by the smallest thing, especially with broadband which still works well through my wireless connection.
Tomorrow, I will hopefully visit the Gym which should be good for my fitness regime as I intend to go in the morning before I get distracted by my work once more!

Humberside Scouts Fells Marathon!
Today, has seen the conclusion of this years Fells Marathon, this year it took place at Hebden Hey Scout Centre at Hardcastle Crags near Hebden Bridge in the West Riding of Yorkshire. I was thinking about going as it has been 5 years since I last visited Hebden Hey Scout Centre and I believe it is quite a nice location for Scouting activities, but unfortunately I didn't have the time!
I hope all the teams involved in the event had a good time, and more importantly I hope that the Hornsea Explorer Scouts, the group I assist with, did well!

Went out to the local public house before moving on to Floral Hall!
Today, I have once again spent most of the day doing work for my MSc Dissertation, which at this point is really starting to take shape. I also went to the gym to try and increase my fitness level!
While perusing the internet I saw lots of articles about the pension gap, which could pose quite a problem for those retiring in the next few years! I also went for a walk around Hornsea to try and increase my fitness levels

I have been having a few wireless problems!
Today, I have spent the morning on the phone to Linksys who are part of Cisco systems, trying to get my wireless network sorted out as for some reason after about three hours use it seems to loose the connection, which is a tad annoying! After about quarter of an hour on the phone with them I think it is sorted, fingers crossed!
I now plan to make my way to the Gym for my second work out this week, I better be careful or I will be called a fitness freak! Anyway, just a few more updates to do on the Eurojam site and it will be finished for another month! Tonight I hope to go out in Hornsea and do my usual Friday night thing, go to the pub with friends, will speak soon!
Thursday, October 07, 2004
Scouts!
In the day I worked on my dissertation, before moving down to the Scout HQ in the evening to help organise the running of a camp fire! The scouts seemed to enjoy themselves which was good, even though I think the Scout HQ is due for a spring clean and I am not volunteering this time! I also received my first issue of the new Scouting magazine today, which seems to be a good read!

British Grand Prix saved again, maybe!
Today I was reading this about the British Grand Prix had been provisional saved, which is good news if true, and I quote
"The British Racing Drivers' Club has played down claims by a consortium involving Nigel Mansell that it has saved the British Grand Prix"!
I hope this really means it will be saved as Britain needs a Grand Prix!

Today I wrote some more of my dissertation!
Anyway tonight I decided to take a quick glance at the BBC News website and saw the Conservative Party Conference had been on, I just have the feeling that Michael Howards Eurosceptic approach will never quite win over enough of the voters, but, what do I know!
I also saw a article about new freshers opinion about higher education linked to above which also surprised me! Anyway, that's me done for the night will speak tomorrow, all things permitting!

Today I went to University!
Today, I went back to University to discuss my dissertation progress with my tutor, I think it is going well, so far, but I will just have to wait and see, it certainly is a stressful experience having to write a dissertation!
However, it was good to see that the rocket plane SpaceShipOne has shot to an altitude of more than 100km for the second time inside a week to claim the $10m Ansari X-Prize. I bet Richard Branson was pleased!
Anyway, I think at this point I should get back on with my dissertation, and thank the BBC for the above link!

Today I have been busy!
Today I have had a busy day working on my dissertation before visiting my tutor tomorrow. I also visited the Gym and watched Monarch of the Glen and Michael Palin's new series called Himalaya on BBC1. He always manages to visit some nice places in his work, the programmes he makes are always very good and informative, much better than watching soaps! It's also funny how BBC programmes seem to be loved around the world, like this New Zealand based site linked to above which seems to have just as much information on the programme as the BBC's own site!

British Grand Prix facing axe!
I read with horror this morning that the British Grand Prix at Silverstone is finally facing the axe, which is not good new for all us Formula 1 fans out there! What is needed is some government investment around the circuit, however I personally think that Bernie Ecclestone wants rid of the British Grand Prix, to make room for the new circuits, however he seems to be saying take a year out and rebuild the circuit, which I suppose would be good if it got lottery funding!
I honestly don't understand why as he is as British as you and me, but I think it will be a real shame if the original Silverstone race is lost especially when only a short time ago they where talking about two British GP's, one at Silverstone and one around the streets of our capital city, London!
However, when you look at the standards of the new Grand Prix's in China and Bahrain you can see why the British grand prix faces the axe as well as the French one!

Scouts
Went to help out at Scouts, they all seem to be getting into it! However, slight catastrophy I was looking for the cups to make the Scouts some squash in and it turned out they had not come back from Summer Camp!
For the rest of the day I was still working on my Disertation, so spending a whole day at a computer, now with a broadband connection is still not good! Finished updating the Eurojam website, so thats one job out the way, only another hundred to go including completing my dissertation, its all go around these parts at the moment!

Conference Call
Today, I spent the evening reading through and making modifications to the various websites associated with Scouting 2007! Ready for the impending conference call tonight! I also tried to get my Linksys router working with Redhat Linux Professional 9.0, but at this moment in time it doesn't seem to want to!
Have also been working on my dissertation entitled "Promoting Scarborough on the Worldwide Web", all good fun, as they say! Hope everyone is well, this evening I have been watching "The British Isles: A Natural History" on the BBC, at last a programme I am actually interested in, see above link!
Tuesday, September 28, 2004
Today, I have spent most of the day working on my Dissertation!
I spent most of the day working on my dissertation, however I also noticed the above link of the BBC news website, about human cloning which I thought could be quite an interesting topic to debate! Especially with all the outcry over Dolly the sheep a few years back!
Last night I went to the Gym to try and improve my fitness levels, but tonight I intend to stay in to get some updates put on the Eurojam site, before we have our monthly conference call tomorrow evening!
Monday, September 27, 2004
Gym!
Today, I made my way to the gym I have joined at Hornsea Leisure Centre in order to increase my fitness!

Well Done!
I was just doing my round of the blogs this evening when I came across a post on the above blog of Martin saying he had got the presentation dates for his Queens Scout Award! I would just like to take this opportunity to say well done Martin, in joining the group of people to attain this award.
I gained my Queen's Scout Award in 1997, and actually got to go to Windsor and be presented with my award although that seems a long time ago now!

Went to see "The Groovies" at the Floral Hall
Today, I had a relatively quiet day all considered. However, this evening I went to see the Groovies at the Hornsea Floral Hall a kind of tribute band with lead singer Raymond Soul. They were pretty good all things considered, and the turn out on this occasion once again, just shows how much Hornsea needs the Floral Hall!
During the day I spent a lot of time on the internet, writing emails and working on my dissertation I am on week 2 now, so I will really have to get writing something good soon, as time is really starting to tick away now!
Friday, September 24, 2004
Went to the Pub!
Tonight, I visited the public house in my home town of Hornsea! On the way down I passed some very strange things, they are so strange I will list them!
1) Lots of young people on the streets surrounded by the local police force, making Hornsea look tatty! At this stage I wonder why the local Youth centre was closed and not relocated, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council must be out of its mind!
2)My local the Alexandra was relatively quiet so I decided to go for a walk to the other pubs, which were equally as dead!
3)Found out Austin Powers look alike group the Groovies are playing at Hornsea Floral Hall tomorrow evening, which I think is good!
Anyway,I am sure I will get over the above points and will Blog soon!
Thursday, September 23, 2004
Scouts!
Went to help at my local Scout Group which was an enjoyable experience! Have helped at Scouts for seven years, and am now a scout leader for Scouting 2007!
I always find it very interesting to find out what the Scouts I have worked with do in life after they have left Scouts! And tonight I found out what one person now does and actually got a thank you, which really pleased me!
Wednesday, September 22, 2004
Am posting from the living room while watching the TV!
Tonight, I am pleased to report my wireless network is now fully working and secure, it is also relatively fast at this moment I am connected at 54Mbps, which I think is a relatively good wireless connection!
Tuesday, September 21, 2004
Gym!
Today, I made my way to the gym I have joined at Hornsea Leisure Centre in order to increase my fitness!
Monday, September 20, 2004
Went for a walk into Hornsea to see the ongoing works!
Today, as well as working on my dissertation I went into the centre of Hornsea to see the work the council are doing to the town centre, you know what they say! Third time lucky, as this will be the third time they have dug up the centre of Hornsea to install the new pedestrian area. Hopefully, this time they will get it right, we will just have to wait and see!
Sunday, September 19, 2004
Monarch of the Glen!
Tonight, I spent a quiet day in working on my disseration, in the evening I remaind in and watched Monarch of the Glen on television, which I thought was still quite good even without the precense of Archie as he moved away last series, but surprise Lexie is back without him!
Saturday, September 18, 2004
Can't wait for my wireless router to arrive!
At this point I am working on my dissertation as well as setting up my wireless network at home, it will be a relief not to have to watch out for trailing wires around the house, anymore!
I am starting to make progress now with my dissertation. At this moment I am looking at past dissertations for inspiration, these include dissertations about E-commerce, Evaluating University Web Sites, Development of a prototype community website for the Borough of Scarborough and Promoting Tourism on the worldwide web! After reading these I now have established the chapter headings for my dissertation, with the original ideas I had!
So, hopefully next week I will have a busy week writing my dissertation, now I have had new ideas for the content! I have a feeling I won't get out of the area to camp until after Christmas, as with working on the Scouting 2007 Website and the dissertation I don't have time for much else. So, I hope everyone I know is well, and I will see you all soon!
Friday, September 17, 2004
Dissertation!
Spent the day working on my dissertation, I am working very hard on my dissertation and have been working on this for most of the day! By the time the night came I decided a break was needed so I decided to visit the pub for the first time this week!
Thursday, September 16, 2004
Scouts!
This evening I did my usual Thursday night thing and went to help at both my Scout Group and Explorer Scout Group Meeting! At Scouts we spent most of the evening tidying out the stores with the older Scouts as well as playing some games to break up the two hours.
However, I was shocked to find out that the Hornsea Scout Group Headquarters now needs a new roof, and this will cost several thousand pounds which is proving a real dilema for the present committee. In a relatively small town where will we find the necessary money to replace the roof!
It would be a real shame if the Scout headquarters closed, as the guide HQ also closed three years ago and although the town has three schools, I don't really think any of them would be suitable for a Scout meeting. So, I really think the Scout Group needs help to raise the necessary funds for a roof! After all if the Floral Hall closes the Scout Hut is one of the only venues in the town for hire!
Anyway, back onto my day, today I decided to go to Scarborough to do some further work on my dissertation, but the problem was that University was really busy with new students registering for the coming year, so, not much work got done. However, I did pick up some Dissertations to read, hopefully which will give me some inspiration for writing mine!
Wednesday, September 15, 2004
Spent the whole evening playing on Broadband!
Spent today mostly playing on the new Broadband I have had installed I am very pleased with it so far, I also went to the Gym to keep up my fitness levels. I also spent some time working on my dissertation once again, so a pretty full day once again!
Tuesday, September 14, 2004
Got 512Kbps Broadband!
BROADBAND IS ACTIVATED, I can now once again post in a manner that doesn't involve using a 56Kbps dial up modem so am therefore pleased, I can watch various videos, listen to music and download documents without waiting an age!
I am so far pleased with the ADSL Broadband service provided by One Tel, that was activated this evening, so hopefully I should be able to post more often without getting stupid connection time out errors from my dial-up setup!
However, I have to say it is a shame that I have finally got rid of my US Robotics (now part of 3Com) modem that has been a good servant for the past six years, through several computers, the first being a Packard Bell 486SX 25MHz, then a Cyrix 686 100MHz and finally being used on a RM P2 350. At this point I have had to exchange it for a Thompson Speedtouch Modem, as it was free with which to connect to the new ADSL enabled line. Will just have to wait for my wireless router now!
I have to say the service that One Tel has supplied seems good so far, I have connected fifteen times over the last few hours and have never had a connection under 512Kbps, in fact most of the connection speeds are over that, at present I am connected at 576Kbps and got connected on the first attempt plus I also now have a Static IP address, which I am also pleased about.
Anyway, with all this new found speed I am going to try it out by completing some downloads, there is no point in having all this spare bandwidth if I don't actually use it!
Monday, September 13, 2004
Had a nice long walk and pick me up!
Today, has being quite a strange day, all in all! Early this morning I got up early to start work on my dissertation, everything seemed to be going to plan, and I had quite a few good ideas when starting to write!
Anyway, I got up after three hours at the computer, working towards my dissertation, to watch the news! What should be happening but a protestor had bi-passed the new allegedly stringent security checks at Buckingham Palace and was on the balcony of the place! Claiming to be part of the father's for justice group, I suppose they must think they have a point to prove, but why they can't just write to their MP like normal people living in a democratic society I am not quite sure. Anyway, that made the lunchtime news a little more entertaining today!
After this short side track I got back to working on my dissertation, and I also found out that the Alternative Rally last weekend, had being cancelled. I don't know why this was, so it is maybe a good job I decided not to go because I was too worn out!
Anyway, the rain stayed away once again today, which was good, I don't know how long the weather can maintain its calm spell for, according to the weather forecast it should all end tomorrow, when I will make it to the gym! This afternoon I got back to working on my dissertation, only another few months to go I suppose!
Sunday, September 12, 2004
Today I spent the day working!
Today, I have being a busy bee it is strange how that always seems to happen on a Sunday, I have updated various websites and sent various emails to different people! I also did some work on my project before I start properly tomorrow, so I doubt whether my posting will get any better, and any more reliable this week!
I was quite pleased to see that Rubens Barrichello won the Grand Prix today, and not Michael Schumacher as usual, this should happen more often as it would make the sport more interesting, and Jenson Button also came in third place in front of both the Williams and the McClaren Mercedes team!
Anyway my Broadband should be up and running by Tuesday so I might just test this new setup and see if it makes it any easier to post, it should do, but I will just have to wait and see!
Tommorow, I intend to go to the Gym, but this weekend I was supposed to be going to the Alternative Rally, and didn't make it! Can't do (anything) everything I suppose, I will see all the SAGGA members soon I hope!
This weekend I have to much to think about, with one thing and another, hopefully next week will run a little bit smoother, it will as I intend to make a start on my dissertation so will be very busy for the next twelve weeks, I am certain of that! Will speak soon.
Saturday, September 11, 2004
Received my Broadband Modem!
Today, I received my Broadband Modem, and also found out that my Broadband connection should be enabled on Monday next week, so from next week I should be updating my Blog more regularly!
I think it is a real shame that I missed my last camp of the year at Giant's Seat campsite, a site I have never visited before, despite it being relatively close, I was really looking forward to it, and seeing everyone I haven't seen in over a year. Unfortunately, Scouting 2007 and Hull University work have had to take priority over the last few weeks.
I will start coming back on camp soon! I would just like to apologise to all concerned, especially Nicholas and the rest, sorry guys, for not making it, for the enjoyable weekend I am sure it turned out to be!
Friday, September 10, 2004
Working on various assignments!
I spent the day working on the project plan for my dissertation, before I made my way to my local public house to have a night out with friends!
During the day I went through to Hull, now I am seriously wishing I went on the Alternative Rally at Giant's Seat Campsite in Lancashire, as one of my friends is organising it!
This weekend I have also got to find some time to update the Eurojam website! But I don't know whether I will have time with it being such a busy weekend! At least I got all my University things sorted out last week, that is one thing sorted I suppose. Sometime, I need to get out for a walk to stretch my legs it's all go around these parts, at present!!
This weekend another friend is getting married, it is all go around here, will post again soon!
Thursday, September 09, 2004
Joined the Gym!
Today, I popped down to the local gym and rejoined after a year away! I also finshed off updating my laptop from the Windowsupdate website as well as working on my dissertation!

Watched Steel River Blues & listened to England win
Spent the day working on various projects, before retiring for the night and listening to England beat Poland 2-1 on Radio 5 Live! I then watched Steel River Blues which I think is a good drama on ITV1, making a nice change from the soaps that the channel seems to broadcast constantly!
Tuesday, September 07, 2004
Spent some more time getting organised!
I spent most of today, spending some time getting everything organised!
Monday, September 06, 2004
Collected my results!
Today, I finally got to find out how I did in my resit exams and coursework I spent all summer on! I passed most modules and therefore I can now continue onto the dissertation phase of my MSc.
I was very pleased, as you may gather, after all the work I spent summer doing! This means that I can get working on my dissertation after spending the rest of this week on holiday, and sorting out various things! Will speak soon, hope everyone else is well!
Sunday, September 05, 2004
Finally Here!
Tomorrow, is D-day I finally go back up to Scarborough to find out whether I passed the modules I failed first time around at Hull Universities Centre for Internet Computing, so tommorow is D-day!
I am hoping I have done well as I have really enjoyed the course and think I know a lot more about the web than I did a year ago. I also think it will be useful when I am working on the Scouting 2007 and Eurojam websites!
Saturday, September 04, 2004
Ordered Broadband!
After much deliberation I decided to change my Internet Service Provider (I.S.P.) from Telco who have provided a very good dialup service for the last two years. I have decided to change providers for broadband to One Tel, as my friend recommended them to me.
So hopefully in 15 working days I will be able to surf the net with more speed, which should prove to be useful when updating the Scouting 2007 and Eurojam website. As well as watching various video and audio clips as well as performing hopefully much faster downloads!
The location of my website will also change but I will update my blog, when this happens! So, hopefully the two weeks I have had at home with a slow connection will soon be coming to a end!
I have decided on a 512Kbps connection to start with that can later be upgraded to 2Mbps if I find I need that degree of speed. Anyway, I would just like to thank my friend Matt who recommended Onetel to me as the people at their freephone number have been extremely helpful today, and have helped me sort out the package I want at a good price!

Tonight I have been to the Alexandra Public House!
Today, I have spent most of the day in Hull shopping and renewing my Library books, plus I spent some of the day seeing my Grandma for the first time since christmas!
Tonight I attended the local public house with a few of my friends who where celebrating their last night in Hornsea for the next six months, still am not sure how long I will remain in Hornsea!

Spent the evening helping at my local Scout Group!
Spent the evening helping with a pioneering project at my local Explorer Scout Group! Next week, all the Scouts should be back from the summer break, so Scouts will start again properly, so that looks like it will take up my Thursday evenings in Hornsea for the foreseeable future! Spent the later evening checking the all new Eurojam Live site and how it is laid out, in case I need to update it! Overall, i think it is quite impressive!

Plenty Of Work!
Spent the day working on organising myself and all my things in my room at home, then started doing some background reading for my forthcoming dissertation entitled, Promoting Scarborough on the Worldwide Web! I think I am starting to get some good ideas! However I still have not got the elusive broadband yet, am still waiting!!

Scouting 2007 Conference Call!
Today, I spent the evening reading through and making modifications to the various websites associated with Scouting 2007! Ready for the impending conference call tomorrow, I have to just say this will be my first ever conference call, so I am certainly learning new things with being on the Scouting 2007 team!
P.S. I am pleased all my SAGGA friends are back Blogging now, as my kinja digest now looks a little more full!

Broadband!
Now I have moved home I have to find another good I.S.P. So I can spend some time on the Internet to update my blog and check my email! At this moment in time I just use a dial up service operating at 42,666 bps, which is OK for blogging, but is no good for watching online movies or listening to sporting events.
At the moment I think I am going to get a Router & modem with firewall, and a faster internet connection from Telco4u.net, I think I am probably going to go for the 500+ product as this gives you a relatively fast 512Kbps connection with a 20:1 contention ratio for £45.81 a month! Or should I say it was this much last week, with broadband prices being so changeable at the moment, it may now be less. I may find myself drawn to other offerings such as the service Plus.net and One tel provide, as they seem to be cheaper than Telco.
However, they all have limits and I could not stand reaching my limit halfway through the month and not being able to use the service for the rest of the month, for example not being able to check my email or update my Blog anyway, I think I have made my point, anyway I will post again soon!

McClaren win the Belgium Grand Prix, and hope for new era!
Was very impressed with McClaren's show today at the Belgium Grand Prix, actually beating Michael Schumacher to the top of the podium! Ron Dennis hopes Kimi Raikkonen’s Belgian GP win will spell the end of Ferrari’s domination of F1, we will just have to see!
I think we also hope for that Ron, but unfortunately it is only one race, and we will have to wait and see what the guys at McClaren can come up with to beat the guys at Ferrari!
I also spent the day organising my things in my room at home. I found quite a few things I had forgotten I had, and dumped quite a lot of rubbish out of my room, overall I think the day has been quite productive and fruitful!

Daily Telegraph
Today, I spent the day trying to sort out my Telegraph delivery now I am back in Hornsea, which I had succesfully completed by the end of the day, therefore I was pleased! I also went to Hornsea Floral Hall in the evening and saw some of my friends!

Short/long last walk around Scarborough!
Today, I went for a walk around Scarborough, it turned into a longer walk than I thought as I wanted to see everything one last time before I leave and it did not rain so I was well impressed!
Sorry for the upcoming long break between posts, however, I will now be moving back home and am continuing everything from home! So, posting should resume in three or four days and I will hopefully fill everybody in on what I have been up to! Tonight I went to Hornsea Floral Hall with friends I had not seen since Easter, it seems good to be able to have a proper break, at last!

The end of an era!
I am moving out of my on campus room, in a few days time. I think I will really miss living in Scarborough! Today, I am going for a walk to mark the end of my tenure, and to see some of the places I have been whilst I have lived here!

Last Exam, Walk & Updating Eurojam site!
This morning I had my last exam which unfortunately was early in the morning! Which meant a rushed breakfast. For the three hours I got very involved in the world of databases, however when I left the examination all I could think of where other things I could have written! Anyway, now I have the dreaded wait of around two weeks before I find out whether I can continue onto the dissertation phase of the course. I would also like to ask whose idea it was to put this years SAGGA camp on the same week as my exams, oh well can't be helped, I think it is the old problem, of not enough time and a lot of things to do!
Today, I also got a list of changes to make to the Eurojam site, so all my readers should expect some changes to the linked document later this week, if all goes well and to plan! Whilst I was out today I made the purchase of Printmaster Silver 12 an application I have not used since I was 15 and at School, however I thought at that time this was a good application, so I thought I would give it a try again.
When I was out in Scarborough I also made the purchase of the Doom Collectors Edition Box Set as I haven't played the game for such a long time, as for some reason my version refused to function under Windows XP, still it was designed for MS DOS 6.2, those where the days when you could sit around for hours playing computer games, but alas not anymore, I have very little time to spend playing computer games with my hectic lifestyle! I also got a Wanadoo broadband connection CD from Dixons as I wanted to see if the broadband offer is quite as good as what the BBC Ten O'Clock news made out last night, will just have to wait and see!
Anyway, tonight I went to the local pub the Poachers Barn in Osgodby and had a very tasty mixed grill for tea as I needed to fill myself up after a week of exams, they tend to drain you, like a battery!
Even after the rain I would still love to be on SAGGA summer camp, because it is nearly a year since I last went camping, and camping is such fun, even in the rain, although I'm sure some people would not agree! Anyway, tomorrow I think I will take some time out updating the Eurojam.org site after my hectic week, sorry that I didn't get around to posting everyday, or maybe I did!

IST exam now complete, just 1 more to go!
Today, I completed my IST exam, don't really know how I have done, will have to wait and see! Apparantly yesterday was the wettest day in the history of Scarborough, I know it was very wet! Have just learnt that the team I support Hull City lost against Wrexham in the Carling Cup, can't win them all I suppose! Anyway, must get back to the revision, have one last exam in the morning, will speak more soon. After I have finished my last exam tomorrow, can't wait, only the project to go after that!

Java Exam Finished, 1 down and 2 to go!
Today, I have being working very hard at my Java exam, the time went very quickly hope I have done OK this time! It's amazing how fast three hours can go when you are concentrating so hard! Midway through the exam I started to feel hungry but luckily I had pre-planned and taken some sandwiches with me.
Anyway just two more exams to go now before I hopefully start my project! Hope everyone is well and will see you all soon, I just hope it stops raining as I am feeling sorry for the people on the SAGGA summer camp at present! Hope it isn't too wet!

Strange Weather in Scarborough!
Before I start ranting I would like to show some etiquet and thank the BBC for the use of the above link! Today has been strange it has been wet and hot, and the food has been rather limited! In fact this evening I had to walk into Scarborough to get a pizza for my tea, making me wish more and more that I was on camp with all my SAGGA chums. The only person still seemingly around is Caz who is also stuck at work like I am, you can see her blog here!
Anyway I will be quiet now as we did quite well at the Olympics today, winning lots of medals including gold by Matthew Pinsent and the team and gold by Daniel Wiggins in Cycling and Ben Ainsle clinched gold in the Finn title, if you want to see the rest click here! I was also quite please that Hull City managed to win there game 2-0 against Oldham Athletic football club! Keep up the good work lads! Will post again tommorow until then TTFN!

More Revision!
Another day at the grind stone they like to call revision, makes a change, not! Anyway I finally finished my assignment on CIDR, IPv6 and NAT ready for hand in on Monday, whey hey! Just the exams to go next week and then the taught part of the course is all over, just the dissertation to go! I have to say I totally disagree with James in his Blog where he says that being a student is easy, and you have lots of spare time, I don't and that is why I am always posting at absurd hours!
Hope everyone making their way to Rhydd Covert for the SAGGA Summer Camp has a good week, will see you next year, fingers crossed, as long as it doesn't clash with Eurojam! Goodness my diary for next year is more full of Scouting appointments than anything else will have to see how the next year pans out though, will speak soon!

A-Level Results Rise Again!
In the A-Level Results published today, I was surprised to see the results rising again, but as various characters said in todays papers and on the news, it is not the exams getting easier, it is the staff and students learning how to demonstrate there knowledge in the best way! Therefore obtaining the best results, so what I say is well done to all of you whatever results you achieved!
Good to see the student's are working hard once again, well done to everyone who received the results they deserved! Speaking of exams next week I am completing three exams and am therefore pretty busy at the moment. Hope to see everyone soon, including my SAGGA friends, when I finally finish this dissertation!
Good, to see that Nichola is currently working at Bramhope from Simons Blog! It's amazing what random things you can learn if you have a Blog and the number of people across the country you can keep up with! Now that's enough promoting Blogger, however I do think it is a good method of communicating for groups of friends, especially as wide as the SAGGA membership is.
Today, I have being doing work for my forthcoming exams next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, hopefully I will do as well as all the people who received there A-Level results today. I will have to wait and see though, hope I do well, I have being revising for them since June!
Anyway, after my delaying tactics back to the revision, will speak soon!

Tonight I have been at the Gym!
Tonight I decided to go to the Gym to try and keep up my fitness levels!
I have also being doing work for my forthcoming exams next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, hopefully I will do as well as all the people who are going to receive there brilliant A-Level results tomorrow. I will have to wait and see though untill mid September, hope I do well, I have being revising for them since June!

Spent the day revising!
Today, having finished my essay have spent the whole day revising for my forthcoming exams which are now less than a week away, at this moment I am revising IST, however I have been revising IBIS all day, what fun! However, I really wanted to go for a walk!
I should also try and make it to the Gym tomorrow, since I was the only person to turn up for football this week! Everybody else has to hand there dissertation in next Monday, however I have not even started mine yet as I have resits, there is still time to get it all done. I have a feeling I may know how much stress you may be put under and I must remember not to leave things untill the last minute, just looking at some of my friends faces this evening, I think knackered would be a nice way to describe them.
My membership of the Gym in Scarborough ends at the end of this month, but that is not important since I am moving back to Hornsea! Anyway, thats enough distraction back to work I go!

Work on Assignment & Revision
Today, I have had quite an interesting day revising and working on my assignment. I think it is nearly finished, I can say I have done a lot of reading but not a lot from books. More from web sites and Sciencedirect.com, as the whole shortage of IP addresses is such a new thing, anyway, I have concluded that we should wait for IP v6, and if you can't wait then use CIDR or NAT! Overall, I can say I have enjoyed writing the essay as this subject really does interest me, however, I have maybe taken a bit too long on it!

Back to Scarborough!
Today, I made my way back to Scarborough to carry on with my work, where I left it on Friday! I can see the next two weeks of my life been quite busy so don't expect posts everyday, as somedays I will be just too knackered, but I will post when I can! At least the rain held off today, so I got the chance to go for a short stroll!

Have been doing more revision!
Today, have been completing more revision, watching the Olympics and listening to Hull City loose for the first time in division one! I got my modem working in my laptop once again today, so I can blog on the move once again!
I really need to get away once again, preferrably camping but that will have to wait till after my exams, so I will probably see everyone in the New Year! I am looking forward to it already, as I need a break from the intensive studying!

Contentious Subject!
I would just like to take this opportunity to clear up a few points I made in my post yesterday! As, I have had quite a busy time of it and was rather tired. I didn't mean to be quite so critical of Jonathan's Work on the SAGGA website! I know that these things take time, and a lot of effort, especially when you are busy doing other things. Sorry, if I seemed over critical of your good work, and am sorry to hear of the website problems you are having!
The second point I would like to correct my Blog readership on is the fact as Martin reminded me, SAGGA members do not have a direct membership of SSAGO, they have to be associate members as I am at the moment. I would like to thank Martin for reminding me of that point! Anyway now that is all cleared up, I am back in Hornsea for the weekend to see several friends. I will try not to put my foot in it in such a big way in future! Hope all my readership is well, so now I will get back to writing my essay!
Thursday, August 12, 2004
Today I have been doing yet more work on my IST essay, plus revision!
Today, I have been completing lots of work on my IST coursework, hopefully by the end of today, it should be completed! I have also being working on revision for my forthcoming exams!
Anyway, enough of that, today I have been thinking about what I should do in September, I think I will relinquish my associate membership of SSAGO, as a lot of the people I know have as I have been a member of SSAGO for six years, and now just devote my time to trying to make it to SAGGA events, wherever in the country they may be!
As a lot of people I know from my time in SSAGO are now SAGGA members. Even though if the rules have not changed SAGGA members have associate membership of SSAGO anyway and help out with Rallies e.t.c.
Looked at the SAGGA website a few minutes ago I still don't see any sign of the large makeover that was promised some time ago by the webmaster, but large parts of the old site is not working. So maybe the makeover is in progress. Oh well these things take time!
Anyway, back to the coursework and some sections to rewrite, what fun and then non stop revision for the best part of two weeks, what do they say, no rest for the wicked!
Wednesday, August 11, 2004
Today have mostly been working!
Today, I have mostly being working on revision for my forthcoming exams, in exactly two weeks time I will be enduring my final taste of examinations whilst at University and hopefully I will pass!
At the same time as this I have also being finalising my final piece of coursework until September, when the project starts! At least the weather will not be so changeable hopefully, it will just be one constant deluge of rain as September always is! Anyway, we have Paul Hudson to forecast the weather and he's nearly always accurate! So I will speak again tomorrow, as I must keep on with the essay writing and revision, as I am about to proceed to Scarborough Borough Council's Gym, on Filey Road, Scarborough.

Useful Web Sites
Yesterday and today my internet surfing has been based out the BBC site .. I've found three places that are useful as places of reference, these are BBC News Console,
BBC Sports Console and BBC Weather Console, by the way they only work if you have a media player installed!
You should take a look if you have broadband they are very useful sites, that can tell you what is going on in the World, especially as one of my friends has organised a camp this week, and has got very wet, not good!

IST Essay
Today, I have being mostly working on my IST essay, which is good fun! I think it is finally finished, so that pleased me. At last I will be able to get back to some revision after the last few weeks spent working on the essay! I intended to go for a walk around Scarborough, but it rained and the appeal of the walk quickly wore off!
I also spent some time working on the Eurojam website which was also good fun, lots more of that to come I think! Today, Richard came back to Scarborough from Rochdale after a fortnight away, so I had somebody to work in the Java Lab with, once again!
Hopefully after one more days work on my IST essay, I will be able to call it finished, chear, and then the real revision will start, which will be good fun! Note the hint of sarcasm in the previous sentance.
Another point of note on todays BBC News was that the erratic weather that has been battering the UK this summer is set to continue into this week! Oh dear I took all my coats home with me this weekend and left them thinking the weather would be nice, as it is Scarborough in August, big mistake!

Broadband
Last night I had a good night out with a few of my friends at Hornsea Floral Hall once again! Today, I have spent most of the day investigating various broadband opportunities, I think I have decided on a package from Telco4u.net. So hopefully high speed internet access at home here I come! However it won't be anywhere near the speed of my University connection of 100Mbps, so I think a slow down will be needed.
When I have the Broadband connection set up I hope to deploy a wireless Router on the connection, with a firewall! At this moment in time my choice is between 3Com (formerly US Robotics), the people I got my very reliable Sportster Flash modem from, several years ago and still use at home, when not connected to JANET at University! The other choice is Buffalo products which I have heard several good reports about! Anyway will just have to wait and see which type I go for after reading various reviews. If anyone has any useful broadband advice, let me know via the comments tab or via the Contact Me form to the right.

Researching Broadband!
Have spent the day researching the broadband opportunities that will be available when I move out my University accomodation at the end of this month and go back home. I am thinking of setting up Broadband through a wireless router, so I can connect a laptop to the network throughout the house, as well as my own computer!
However, I am having problems finding reviews of the different options available so therefore I would find any solutions people have heard off very useful indeed! I will definitely need a faster connection for updating the Scouting 2007 website, I am now involved with!
Presently I am listening to Hull City AFC beating Bournemouth at the KC Stadium in Hull on the premiumtv.co.uk Hull City Website! They are winning their first game in League One, and Nick Barmby very nearly scored for the first time for city!

Revision, Telegraph & Linux
Today, I have mainly been revising Java Programming, Internet Systems Technology and Internet Based Information Systems for my forthcoming exams later this month! Over Lunch I read the Daily Telegraph and did some programming with Java in the afternoon, all good fun!

Essay!
Spent the day working on my essay before making my way into Scarborough town centre for a wander around, it was very busy as Scarborough always is in Summer!
Wednesday, August 04, 2004
Today I have been to the Gym!
Today, I have had quite a hectic day with finishing off my IST essay, helping to fix a problem on the Eurojam Web Site!. I also visited the Gym for a work out this evening, which was good!
There has been a lot of talk about the Rock of Gibralter in the news, I don't know what the Spanish are on about it has been part of Britain for a long time, and shows part of our colonial history?
On a more happy note the Daleks will be back in the new series of Doctor Who the BBC announced today. Which I am very pleased about, Dr Who wouldn't be Dr Who without the Daleks would it?
Tuesday, August 03, 2004
Today I went for a walk around Scarborough in the rain!
Today, I have been doing yet more work on various essays as well as going for a walk in which I got very wet. Have also learnt a little bit more about how to update the Scouting 2007 site! It's all good fun really I can assure you! Anyway, will have to go now as security want to lock the Java Lab and my home Internet Connection is not working! Will speak more tomorrow, and update you on all the things I have been up to once again!
Monday, August 02, 2004
Back to work
Today, I have spent most of the day working on various assignments in the University of Hull's Java Lab! See above Link for what is going on there at the moment!
I got on quite well with various things, but I am now running out of time before the exams come around again! However, I found this site in support of Longridge Scout Boating Centre, so I have included a link.

Meeting in Reading part 2!
Spent another day in Reading which turned out very enjoyable and once again very warm just like yesterday!
Saturday, July 31, 2004
Meeting in Reading!
Today, I spent the day travelling down to Reading near London, for my meeting with the other members of the Scouting 2007 team at Microsoft, which turned out to be quite a productive day on which I made some new friends and found out what I will be doing at Eurojam & Scouting 2007. If I have planned it right this weekend will be the first without university work for a long time!
Friday, July 30, 2004
Went home & visited the pub!
Tonight, I went out in Hornsea to see a few of my friends at home before making the journey down to London early tommorow morning! I also remembered that the local Scout Group Hornsea Scout Group where camping at Longridge Scout Boating Centre on the Thames at Marlow, I should try and visit them whilst I am down there, however, I don't know whether I will have the time!
I think it will be a bit of a shame, however if the Scout Association closes down Longridge at Marlow as I have being camping there a few times, and I really think it is a very good Scout campsite, in a very popular location! So my message to the Scout Association is keep Longridge open!
Tomorrow I will be travelling down to London to join in a Scouting 2007 Web Team meeting, at Microsoft's European HQ!

What Fun!
Today, I have been mainly doing further revision for my forthcoming exams, updating the Hull SSAGO Website and doing some further work on my report as well as thinking about the forthcoming weekend in Reading and packing some things!
A story that caught my eye in the news today was the fact that the over 80's will double to 5 million in a generation! I wonder how society will cope having more people over retirement age, I think some adaptation will be necessary!
In America things are really hotting up for the elections as you can see on my friend Simon's Blog who is actually out there right now, working I should add! Anyway I should really get to sleep now, so good night all!
Wednesday, July 28, 2004
Today I have been working on Java and my IST essay!
Today I have been completing lots of hard work on Java Revision and also working for a long while on my essay, that is due in quite soon now!!
I have been completing my Java revision in the abtely named Java Lab on Hull Universities Scarborough Campus! Hence, the late post I am just making posting the last thing before going to bed!
Tomorrow, I have a meeting at 11a.m. to discuss how my Java Revision is coming along, hopefully this will chear me up in some way! As today I have been working on an essay all about the solutions used to combat the shortage of IP addresses, which is proving to be a uphill struggle!
At the same time, I am trying to also organise a trip to Reading at the weekend, which should prove to be a good laugh, as I have never been to Reading before! I will update you on Monday, on what I thought about it, apparently the roads are a nightmare in Reading!
P.S. I wish I would stop misspelling tomorrow in my blog I keep spelling it tommorow, apologies if you find a spelling error in my archives!
Tuesday, July 27, 2004
Interesting Day!
Have had quite an interesting day doing some more work on my IST essay, before moving onto the sports fields for the usual tradition of football on the field! Luckily I didn't injure myself before my forthcoming weekend away! Tomorrow I hope to complete some more work, and hopefully go for a short walk, weather permitting, I shall have to wait and see!
Monday, July 26, 2004
Back in Scarborough!
Returned to Scarborough today to continue with my revision and to get ready for the Scouting 2007 and Eurojam meeting I will be attending this weekend, in Reading. A place I have to say I have never visited before, but judging by the directions I have been given it is a more complex place to navigate than Leeds, and that is really saying something!
Anyway, I hope everyone who attended the SAGGA water activities weekend had a good time, will see you all soon! That is as long as I survive getting to Reading and back! All good fun anyway! Tomorrow, I will be trying to get some serious work done, however, we will have to wait and see how successful I am! Probably will post again tomorrow, so until then, goodbye!
Today, I also realised that my date counter for Eurojam was not working as it should be doing, so I have replaced it with a more reliable model!
